PS3 PS3 Slim CECH-2504B Maintenance Questions

Hi all,

TL;DR, been out of the homebrew space for a while and just want to find out the the correct things to do for maintenance of a CECH-2504B. Nostalgia got the best of me at the moment!

I am comfortable with taking the PS3 apart, etc if it is comparble to building a PC in any way as I am quite comfortable with PC building.

I have done some research but a lot of it comes from sources which date a couple of years a many years back and would like to know if these are still the current norms for maintenance. I've also watched some more recent YouTube videos but did not want to rely purely on them.

Please advise if the following points are correct for a system running CFW:
- Fans should be set to a level that keeps temps at around 60-70 degrees celcius - usually around +-35%
- Delidding is not advisable.
- Reapplying thermal paste is advisable.
- Reapply thermal pads is optional, but advisable.

Questions:
- Are there any fan mods available for the PS3 Slim? Similar to the Noctua fan mod for the PS2 perhaps?
- Besides thermal paste, is there anything else that should be replaced such as foam pieces etc?
- If thermal pads are to be replaces, what sizes are to be used?
- Where I am, genuine Sixaxis controllers are almost impossible to come across these days. Are there any alternatives that the community recommends? Retrofighters Defender page states "PS3 only Bluetooth version with six-axis compatibility coming soon!" but until then, we don't know if it be 100% compatible with both PS3, PS2 and PS1 on CFW.
- Is there anything specifically I should be using to clean?
- For a HDD upgrade; is +-1.8tb still the maximum supported without instability? I've read some 2tb drives work but depends how the manufactures intepret kilobits so I am assuming a 1.5 tb drive should be acceptable - if one can be found these days.
- Following that, SSDs still unadvisable because of PS3 not supporting SSD trim?
- Is it safe to use a vaccuum to clean difficult to reach areas or is ESD a possibility?

Possible Parts List:
- Arctic MX-5
- Thermal Pads
- 1TB-2TB SSD
- Torx T8 driver
- Philips driver
- Clearning cloth / iso and shop towels

Please let me know if I've misunderstood anything or missed anything.

Thanks!
