PS3 PS3 will only detect usb when formatted as fat32

Okay so to clarify I'm talking about two different devices. I have a samsung 500 gb ssd that I've been using to run ps3 isos with irisman, and suddenly my ps3 no longer detects it. I figured it was an issue with the cord (my cat chewed on it) so i used my usb stick instead, formatted it to ntfs and mbr with rufus, but it won't get detected either. When i format the same drive as fat32 it's detected just fine. When I disconnect and reconnect the drive in managunz nothing pops up, and the ps3 usb light isn't on. I've updated prepiso to the latest version and that didn't help either. Anyone have a solution?
 
Let's go back to the 500GB SSD and start the cord that was chewed up. Is the cord physically embedded into the SSD, as in it can't be detached from the drive? If it is detachable can you try purchasing another one? Can you provide a photo of both ends of the cable that your SSD interfaces with?

It's detachable as you can see, i've already ordered another cord on ebay.
 
Well, it's good that you ordered another cable. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to low-level format the USB drive you're trying to get working with this free Windows tool:

https://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/

Just download the Windows executable and select the 'Fast' option (don't do a full low level format, as that could take a full day, depending on the size of the drive.

When it's finished it will leave you with a blank drive that you should format back to NTFS with an MBR layout.
