so since yesterday i was playing a game when the new hen dropped and didnt wanna quit just to update, now today when i try to update am getting error http status code: 404.

i am running 4.86 and 3.2.2 but ive been using the debug build since it seems i get less black screens with it, anyways should i go to the website and re-install it that way or should i just download the latest hen signed pkg and just install it ?

yes. if you are updating hen with changing firmwares, you can just install the pkg. but be sure that you get the right pkg for your firmware. each pkg version has different files that need to be restored for that specific hfw version.

i suppose you can also update through the xmb under Hybrid Firmware Tools -> PS3HEN Updater -> Update PS3HEN, it should hopefully be installing the latest build for your current firmware, idk if it works on debug though

I understand you're not actually giving an ETA, but in the minds of others the bold part is an ETA. They see "tonight" and everything beyond that doesn't exist.

Just wanted to also point out the few new accounts that seem to share a theme of using "bro" like their lives depend on it and all come right in with the "I'm a hardass bro" attitude...lol wow

2. there was an ETA like 4 days ago before this "403" thing, and that was not truthful, was it?

thats the first thing i tried and got that error, tried what Coro said and that worked

Sure.
There is no good way to go about it.
If you give some news update to let people know what's going on at our end, some make assumptions, if you don't keep anyone posted, some make assumptions.
It's a no win scenario.

It's not our first rodeo, every release is a big headache with unforeseen problems and every time it takes us days to sort them out.
I just rolled out the Toolset update but in truth, if I had given an ETA at the start, the release would have been made in 2 weeks time, not today because I would have taken 2 extra weeks to ensure I could overcome all issues before release.

bgtoolset was released a few mins ago, use it and be happy. See you guys in 2025 when this all starts again

HFW really is pratically identical to OFW, so even if it's already installed you wouldn't notice any difference from the xmb alone. It's actually supposed to show just version 4.91 in system information. Proceed with HEN installation to see if it works:
-open your ps3 browser, clear cookies and cache
-go to and select "auto installer" under PS3HEN in the top left side
-it will ask to download a package, wait until it finishes and then set this page a the browser homepage
-reload the browser, it should redirect you to the auto installer. No need to install the package again.
-run the installer. If everything goes well your ps3 should reboot and show the HEN icon during start up. You're free to install any plugin and homebrew app now.

No words to thank you and all the community, it worked.
I tried some other things I read here and there related to the HEN installation, but all failed, never tried with the menu in Ps3xploit site.
It worked like a charm!
Probably then also all the several HFW 4.91 installations were good, but googling I saw an image of an earlier HFW in which the string of the name of the firmware in "System Information" XMB menu element were changed stating it was an Hybrid Firmware. In this case, seeing no changes, I thought I was still on OFW.
What happened then was that I never been able to fulfill HEN installation before in the correct way. Now I go to study next steps to run some homebrews!

I have latest hfw and hen installed. I want to try cfw but wanted to know if it is a must to remove hen/hfw and install ofw first before starting cfw procedure?

I have run the latest bgtoolset to check if ps3 is compatible and it is.

Was wondering if it is possible...

no need to remove HEN or HFW. It's the best not to Enable HEN before launching BGToolset. Go ahead and proceed
 
I will run some tests for the current AutoHEN installer on FW 4.82 up to FW 4.90.

If somebody is on a low FW, please let us know so we can divide the work and check that everything is working faster.

After watching @MrMario2011 Ps3hen to cfw tutorial he made it took about 10 min to get everything done.

To everyone that has and is working to keep the scene alive, PS3Hen, HFW and CFW wise,

You guys are amazing and thank you for all your effort and sacrifices, I for one appreciate it.
 
hi! I've updated to 4.91.1 and install hen 3.3.0 without issues, but the problem I have now is that my cable internet connection is not working. I've tried serveral times but it cannot get the IP address (first step).
I haven't seen anything related to this in the thread.
Do you have any idea?

Please, disregard my message above, the source of the problem was not related to the upgrade but with a lower speed in the ethernet source (which is sourced by a Powerline adapter).
Just bad coincidence.

Thanks again for all the work on keeping Hen up to date.
