There is an offline software-based NOR flasher in the "PS3 Advanced Tools" (check @bucanero's github for newest version AFAIK). It requires you to patch a dump manually on your PC first (if I understand correctly). **For ADVANCED users only as it says!**

If you have a NAND or NOR on 4.85 or lower, you could use the old PS3Xploit Flash Writer (or better yet @lmn7's unofficial mod). I'm sure anybody who buys consoles often will find one on slightly older firmware from time to time.

I understand that some people mod/repair/etc consoles for a living or for extra money...but I can not justify them using stolen code to do it just because the source is temporarily unavailable. If you were a car mechanic, would it be okay to steal a wrench that someone will not loan to you anymore?

If people want to use the Russian options, I would never even know...except that they come here, where the author hangs out, and say "it's okay." They could say it on Reddit, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook,..need I go on? Why must they come here? They have no respect (manners).

Instead of "it works" they are really saying "we don't need you anymore". The Russian team was banned here so they can not post a link to "their" version anymore. Yet it does not matter because others will gladly come here and throw more salt on the wound.

I am not trying to change the scene or impose my morality on it. Do what you will elsewhere, it is not my concern. I just want people to follow the rules here. Being respectful of other users and copyright status is basiclly all that is required here. Most anything else can be deleted, edited, or forgiven.

There are people who have been able to use it fine with no issue's.

but the toolset took sometime to develop and along that path there was many problems and issues that were discovered along the way. Things that can cause errors. Since and even before its release the project has been more about stability and ensuring a proper and safe enviorement where a brick is actually damn near if not impossiable on the real toolset with all the checks and how the toolset actually works.

The problem with the mirrors. It just has mimic the exploit function of the exploit and many things were removed (or better were not able to clone, so they were left out. These are very important things.. There is now so many potentials that can cause a brick.
When your messing with your internal flash and its different per model / firmware / Setup / Usage / ..


So when the guy who made and created the exploit with the toolset says this is dangerous.
WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE SMARTER THEN HIM..
No other time is the person who edits something or clones something partially knows more about the guy who create the thing to begin with. There is no other person who knows the dangers then bguerville.


Its a choice for anyone to use a mirror. But knowing what we do, and the warnings bguerville has said.
It makes only sense to not allow the mirrors to be promoted here and that is why we took that stance.
 
What is the worst in my opinion is that, even after the dev himself warned everybody about not using his stolen tool, people still did it.

Now, when the stolen tool starts doing shady stuff or bricking consoles, we shall see tons of people coming here asking for help. It had happened before.

I used the other source to JB 3 PS3s perfectly fine. But if something went wrong. I'm not dumb enough to come here asking for help. It was my decision. If I find a solution that works for when I want it to, I'll take that chance. I'm not waiting months for a version that this forum finds acceptable. I'll follow the rules here, but you gotta give people way more credit than that. Not everyone will F%$# it up. Then come crying here for help or blame anyone here.

Perhaps you don't remember but back in the day, when the PS3 scene was like boiling water, lots of malicious people and hackers released unfinished stolen CFWs and homebrews promising anything you can think of: from playing ISOs, free PSN Plus and games to exploiting and downgrading FWs. All of that lured tons of people in, bricking their consoles in the process. After they've realized what they've done, they came to PS3 forums (ps3hax.net was one of them) asking for help because they bricked their consoles.

Most people don't read (or don't understand what they read) and that always end in tears.

I mean I remember, but it was long ago. And I did my research before doing anything. Some people are too desperate to do their research before hand. Besides the PS3 is omega old. I don't think people would waste their time trying to brick others PS3s. Plus there are ways to unbrick PS3s. But alas. You are right about one thing, people can be dumb or just careless. I won't talk shit cause I've been careless in the past plenty of times when it came to homebrew stuff and taking things apart. We all make mistakes after all.

  • The site HTML and JS have been modified with the new domain extension. Any release files are untouched, as this only applies to the site installation web files.
  • The current PS3HEN releases will not be touched, however, the p3t installer files will be rebuilt (saving old ones) to accommodate the .me extension only. This does not affect HEN in any way, but is the file that is used to download the HEN PKG, and will fail if the server domain is not edited.
  • The HEN version check and auto update will fail.
  • Anything that uses **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) as a host will fail, for obvious reasons. This cannot currently be avoided.

it says that ps3xploit.me is unavailable and the git hub link doesnt work on the ps3
