While CFW is not available to install, because the toolkit required is down, in the meantime I decided to install hen, wich is a semi -ailbreak, but you will bennefit more with CFW instead off HFW if your ps3 is not a super slim. You can only install hen on a super slim. Correct me if im wrong.

Hen can go on all the console versions. Why you would want Hen on a CFW-able system is beyond me…but still an option nevertheless.

yes...but again recommended for advanced users only. the dump is patched on PC and this tool writes it to the PS3 flash memory.

the usual tool is bgtoolset, but the website that hosts it is down right now. i would recommend using HEN untill the new site is ready.

Just going to say I had no issues using the ******.*** site yes it's a Russian clone and they tried to remove all traces of bgurville but I compared the code there with the GitHub archive of the bgtoolset and with the minor changes of the creator of the toolset and that it's in Russian its identical. I've used it and haven't bricked my machine. So if your in a pinch you can use the Russian site. The Russian site is up to date for 4.88, if you have ofw 4.89 the dump file will give a warning of unknown firmware. But it will work, now it's recommended to use the official one but if your not wanting to wait for bgtoolset that toolset will work.

Any news about bgtoolset? And yes i dont care if somebody made a dump of it and share it, if the site have a 0 piracy rule you cant share homebrew (made with ps3 sdk) or customfirmware (because most of the code are from sony .. ) So yea .. it you love dobble standard it just look bad.. but do that you want .. i just want a custom firmware on my ps3 fat (with 4.89) .. i dont care about "scene" drama ..

While that is true, the biggest reason its simply dangerous to use.

Any news about bgtoolset? CFW is not piracy. Its rather a Jailbreak.

We are a Homebrew & Hacking website, There are MANY things you can do on a jailbroken device that does not involve piracy.
Its those things that this forum has been about, Which is what most of the developer's in the scene are about.
Usually its the fly by night posters like yourself, Whom to seem to think they know what the "scene " is about.
However the scene is about progressing user idea;s... Not about some kid or overgrown adult sitting in his underwear to mass pirate games. Sorry not us,, no double standard, Rather just common sense in an adult world.

Rather its someone who reversed PARTIALLY some of the toolset functions in a rather sloppy way and is incomplete. But that person did not do it to disturbe it because they understood the danger's and explained it was incomplete. So someone else who has very little knoweldge put it up on their website and distributed.. The creator bguerville has warned of the dangers and incompleteness..

They choose to act like they know more then the guy who created it as you are doing as well.. So knowing what we do about the situation that is why we do not allow the INCOMPLETE Imposter version of the toolset to be linked here.. Mods are not butthurt, but rather being respectable to the community and protecting user's

You shud not share code that sony made, you can share a patch but you cant share a full update base on sonys update.. just like xbox bioses was not share on a xbox-scene, and xbox360 nands are not share (just the patch), and the same was for psp.. the rison was that it was not legal.. i just saying you and the other ops have a dobble standard and that is just bad.. If its broken just say its broken you dont need to remove the link .. you can make a post with a list with all the sites that are hosting toolsets that dont work.. if you are just sensoring it and saying that is steeling it looks more like somebody have made a copy and some op have lost the soures files (lets hope thats not the problem here) but sensorship is always a bad thing ..

That is not even close to a double standard.

The worse things would be someone trusting something the creator has warned us about being dangerous..
That is why those site are not listed, Its not censoring as much as safety. That can't be stressed enough.

Its the same as the fake jailbreak survey sites. we also block those.
Also spammers that come in with random spam address we block those when they become repetitive.
Should we allow all spam post and accounts. I mean that is censoring per your definition

There is some things that need moderated.
Here in our forum we have rules and you can choose to respect them or move along.

To Quite from the guy who made the dump originally and made public. (the Russian "team" only rebranded his incomplete dump while omitting what it really was. Lets look at what the original dumper had to say about it.

you should always go to bgtoolset page first, and use tools provided there. Not only they are more reliable, and written by people who actually know what they're doing - they're also always up to date.

• I'm not responsible for any damage you may do to your console. This stuff if used inproperly, can brick your PS3.
• I tested this dump on my CECHJ03 PAL PS3 FAT console, with 4.87 firmware, and it worked without any issues. However I do not guarantee that it will work for you.
  • I haven't tested it on other versions (4.88 or later)!
• It's not a full dump, I only focused on happy path, of flashing PS3. Memory editor probably wouldn't work, logs are also not reliable. Original toolset uses *.php files, which (for obvious reasons) I couldn't dump, so most of them are just plain HTML output of the scripts. The file3.php is my dummy, minimal implementation which makes all this stuff work.

Does this look like a Copy or a Clone or more like a piece together incomplete rebranding of something that it isn't, yea it can work, but it can also brick your console, so many issues came up during development and testing as there were so many variables from console to console and many checks were added to counter and catch various things Nothing like that is included its a naked bare bones piece together toolset. . The creator bguerville has warned us and also we know what the so called russian team did. And as a poster mentioned above its a 1:1 clone of THAT meaning the russian site just took what this guy had and did not relay any of the warnings that he actually laid out when he made the dump of the toolset..Seems like important information to relay to the user's

you can make a sub forum that is call something like spams and virus so if people search for a link they can fast see if its a good link or a link in the spam\virus sub forum .. just have some wornings on the search result.


Or you can make a post with link\name and how many times this person post bad links and if he do it more than 5 times, banned him for like 6 mnd or somethings .. so you have a big post with all the scammers ..

it is called "fair use". look it up. it is the same thing that lets me draw disney characters and post it on instagram but not get sued...or get a disney character tattoo and not pay disney...or make my kid a birthday cake with disney characters on it and not have to pay.

and no i don't care to debate if it is or not, i am not a law professor so i doubt i can teach it to you. "ignorance of the law is no excuse" is my only reply to any such discussion.

BTW funny how a new account is so passionate about a subject just after an old account got banned...

ALSO, why do so many people come here and complain that i do not let them talk about piracy? how many times have i gone to any other site and asked you to stop pirating (or using "unofficial" stuff)? can you talk about that stuff everywhere else, and not talk about it here???
