The Flash Writer Tool is an exploit/tool that patches flash memory in the PS3 (internet browser) to accept a PS3 Custom Firmware installation. The creators of the tool (Ps3Xploit Team) retired this tool and focused on worked on bguerville's PS3 Toolset which is the suggested method for this task, but the Flash Writer does serves as a secondary backup option to if bguerville's PS3 Toolset is unavailable (an online tool).
After the Flash Writer was retired by the official team, other developer's have continued the project. Imn7 & aldostools among other.
The latest update was an unofficial one by developer @aldostools to support 4.91 firmware.

PS3HEN is not necessary to be installed. Only HFW 4.90 or 4.91 is enough.
DISCLAIMER: This tool haven't been tested in all scenarios. Use it at your own risk.
The official BGToolset is recommended as it's more robust and safer than PS3Xploit Flashwriter.
NOTE: Use the Fiddler workaround tutorial to access ps3toolset.com via proxy to bypass the SSL issues on PS3.
