You can play any game 9.00 and below for every firmware. You would need to backport them if you stay on 6.72 but I can tell you 9.00 is better in every sense of the word.

I personally believe you should update to 9.00 as there's no reason to stay on ancient 5.05 and waste time backporting games and stuff, not everyone agrees with my opinion though.

In between there was fw on which PFS key could be dumped (not possible on 5.xx and 9.xx). Just FYI.
