PS5 PS5 Logo Introduced @ CES & New PS5 forums here at psx-place

The latest move in the next gen hype has embarked on us as Sony unveils the PS4 PS5 logo as CES to leave the gaming community on a cliffhanger. While not much was mentioned about the next generation console we have came to one conclusion that the PS5 logo budget seems to be about the same as the budget for PS3 firmware updates. Also a few days ago i figured it was due time to add a PlayStation 5 Section to the forum as well. Right now there is just a general discussion area for now, it will evolve as the PlayStation 5 is released in the 2020 holiday season We have a dissuasion thread here in the forum about some of the rumors and specs of the next generation console here.

Are you hyped for the PS5? Will you buy at launch or do you like to give the platform time to mature?

The logo is correct, but the font will be a bit thinner! :P


About the emulation... I wonder about that as well!
Maybe a kind of modular emulator and... "masks" + TLBs...

 

@TnA Sony mentioned something about remaster engine, which is of course stupid marketing name but... interesting. High probably they will just enhance the gfx like anti aliasing in PSX games, smoothing textures, few upscalling algos, maybe some filters and maybe just maybe trophies for some titles - and that's all.

• For PSX, emulation for them will be trivial.
• For PS2 and PSP, they already have emulators for x86 with complex patching system, so they will just refactorize project and enhance emulation quality.
• For PS3 we shouldn't expect anything better than RPSC3. ;p
• For PS4, full support by partially virtualization with maybe upscalling to 4K and/or enhance fps to 60.

Or they will be lazy as hell and everything be ugly PlayStation Now streaming.

 

Just because there's a possibility we could see the PS5 in the coming months , it doesn't mean the PS4 will suddenly disappear, it took around 2 years for the PS4 to take the market from the PS3 and even now, 7 years into the PS4 era, the PS3 is still kicking. It can be reasonably expected that the PS4 still has around 4 years of quality development.

 

1 year later, but still, has anyone discovered if the ps5's kernal or os was made of UNIX and open source stuff like the ps4? (if anyone has a ps5 that is, DAMN YOU SCALPERS)

they must working long and very hard to make this new logo.

 

It looks they doesnt have any pressure, but as far i know they have a stand in CES all this week, i hope the press and news media squeezes them along the week to tease some details of the PS5
