PS3 PSN Liberator updated to v1.1 by Rudi Rastelli

Developer @Rudi Rastelli updated his PSN Liberator to version 1.0. PSN Liberator is tool to converts your purchased PSN-content, like Games, PS1- PS2-Classics, DLCs, Minis, Themes and Avatars to a disc (iso or folder) format. Converting these games gives several conveniences, one of the most notable maybe is the ability to use the content in backup manager's making all your content available in one place.

In version v1.0 there has been several enchantments as a new and improved "polished GUI" has made it's way in this update which has an added Drag & Drop feature with a new Progress Bar to go along with it, The developer has added some other features and a few bug fixes as outlined in the changelog provided. Plus Rudi Rastelli has also provided user's some tips that can be viewed in the tab below and also in the included ReadME that comes in both English and German.

    upload_2016-9-25_12-29-27.png

  • How to use PSN Liberator
    1. Start LIBERATOR and follow assistent to the point to set up LIBERATOR for 1st use
Note: You can use the "PSN CONTENT"-folder from the LIBERATOR's program directory. It's a possible folder structure just for to show you how to get started... Just copy it elsewhere to follow the "How-To-Use"-Example (see below)

    "How-To-Use"-Example:

    1. You need a fully installed, activated and updated PSN-game on your PS3. DLCs could be installed as well(they must be activated)
(Most likely you already have a such a game on your PS3... else got to PSN-store and buy one)

    2. Find out the "GameID" of the game and search in "/dev_hdd0/games/" for a folder with exactly the name of that "GameID"
Copy that folder to "PSN CONTENT\LOCKED\PSN GAMES\"

    3. Now enter "/dev_hdd0/home/0000000x/exdata/" and search for
    a) all "*.rif"-files with the "GameID" in it's name and copy them to "PSN CONTENT\RIFsRAPs"
    b) an "*.edat"-file with the "GameID" in it's name and copy it to "PSN CONTENT\UNLOCKS"
(Not all games have "*.rif"- AND "*.edat"-files... often games have only one type)
TIP: At 1st time just copy over all RIFs and EDATs you'll find.

    4. Set up in LIBERATORs main menu:
    a) "PSN Game Folder" = "PSN CONTENT\LOCKED\PSN GAMES\[GameID]\"
    b) "PSN Game Unlock File" = "PSN CONTENT\UNLOCKS\****[GameID]****.edat" (only if you've found an *.edat" for your game)

    5. Press Button:
    a) "GAME FOLDER" -> Creates a liberated [TitleID]-folder for direct installation to 'dev_hdd0/game/' (see Tips)
    b) "PKG" -> Creates a liberated PKG-File
    c) "DISC FOLDER" -> Creates a liberated Disc-Game-Folder
    d) "ISO" -> Creates a liberated ISO-File

  • Notes:
    • To get Update-PKGs for each game u can use my PS3 GAME UPDATER

    • Sometimes an additional Unlock-PKG-File will be created. Install it to finally liberate the game. You can 1st try the liberated game without that Unlock-PKG-File installed. Not all games need them. Just try !

    • If you like you can add (dev_)klics you've found yourself to "my_klics.txt"(located in "Tools"-subfolder).

    • Not all PSN-games will work when they are converted to disc. It's a matter of TRY & ERROR ! (Sometimes it works without problems, sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes with freezes/errors/glitches)

    • The icon("ICON0.PNG") of every processed content will be saved in "[LIBERATOR Programmverzeichnis]\GameIconCache\"-folder as "[GameID].PNG". This will most likely shorten the creation of a "Bubble"-PKG-Install-Disc with "Bubble"-Game-Icons.

    • While creating a "Bubble"-PKG-Install-Disc just drag&drop the PKG-Files, which should be included in the disc. Then arrange them to your likings. Create disc as game-folder or ISO.

    • If you've selected to use "Bubbles" with game-icons LIBERATOR will 1st search in "[LIBERATOR Programmverzeichnis]\GameIconCache\" for a "[GameID].PNG"-file. If it's not there it will extract the PKG-file to get the "ICON0.PNG". This could take a long time. To avoid this you can add game-icons maunally to "GameIconCache". Just name them "[GameID].PNG".

    • Keep in mind that a "Bubble"-PKG-Install-Disc can get really big depending on the number of and size of the PKG-Files you've added.

    • Don't update liberated games online or offline !... else they will be locked again !

    • I strongly advice to NOT put the "PSN CONTENT"-directory to deep into sub-directorys, because 'PKGView' does not like very long paths and then tends to create an exception.

  • Tips:
With latest webMAN_MOD you can dump (Dev_)Klicensees:
    A) Enter "/klic.ps3?log" at 'CUSTOM COMBO'
    B) Start Game and press 'PS'-button to call the In-Game-XMB-Menu. Here u press 'R2+[]' for about 1-2 seconds. This dumps the '(Dev_)Klicensee' to "dev_hdd0/klic.log"
Repeat this step for as many games as u like
    C) Copy "klic.log" to PC.
    D) Use "Import 'klic.log' to 'my_klics.txt'" in Liberator's Extra Menu

Whenever bruteforce approach to obtain Dev_Klicensee fails Liberator prompts you to enter it manually.
At this time a decrypted EBOOT.BIN(=EBOOT.ELF) should be available in 'Tools'-subdirectory.

Reduce installation time and disc-space for archivation:
    A) Liberate Game(s) as 'GAME FOLDER'
    B) Install Game(s): Copy the resulting [TitleID]-folder(s) to 'dev_hdd0/game/'. Then run 'Rebuild Database' from PS3 recovery mode.
    C) Archive Game(s): Pack the resulting [TitleID]-folder(s) with a packer of your choise(eg WinRAR).

i found a small issue where if u set the output folder the same folder for the psn game folder the app will crash wiping all the game folder for good

Very true, This happened to me about a year ago. I set my output folder to my external hdd PS3ISO folder & then crash!!........... I lost all my games & had to start over :(

Do u set output folder to "...\PSN CONTENT\ORIGINAL\PSN GAMES" ??? ... and then "PSN GAMES"-folder is deleted or only it's content ?
Do u use game-folder or pkg as input type ?

I'll try that and hope i can reproduce the issue in order to get a chance to fix it.
Beside of that: Seems to be a good idea to always have a backup of important data.

First of all, thank you for this great tool (as all your other tools) ;)

While I was testing the tool I noticed that the content already created in the folder "PSN CONTENT\LIBERATED" is erased each time I tried a different option. e.g. I tried a small pkg and use GAME FOLDER, it created fine. But when I tried ISO or DISC FOLDER the previous content was deleted.

Also tested converting webMAN Updater.pkg, but the program stopped when it found the file "libfs.sprx". It prompted for the dev_klic, as I didn't provide it failed to convert the game. I think that the program should give the option to continue converting even if the dev_klic is not given.

Maybe this alternative installation method could be useful if you add support to it:
A) Liberate Game(s) as 'GAMEI FOLDER'
B) Install Game(s): Copy* the resulting [TitleID]-folder(s) to '/dev_usb000/GAMEI/'
*Some games may not be compatible with this method (e.g. games with files >4GB).
C) Create a pkg of the game with only PARAM.SFO, ICON0.PNG and USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN. Install this to create the icon of the game on XMB.
D) Use gameDATA or webMAN MOD's combo SELECT+SQUARE to access the game on USB.

I know that the option "GAME FOLDER" could be used for steps A-B, but it would be nice to have step C automated too.

EDIT:
One more suggestion: it would be nice to have a button or maybe a menu option to open the output folder after conversion.

If you want to recreate my situation just create a folder, put any iso in it, set that folder as the output folder & once you liberate it erases what ever is inside that folder. It's my fault, I should of been more careful. I lost just over 1.4tb of iso's lol.

I love this program you have made though. Beats the hell out of doing it the old manual way.

I hope you decide to implement aldos ideas. That would put the cherry on the cake so to speak :)

the input was a game folder and the output was set to the same directory to that game folder but as a pkg file, instead of just liberating and packing the pkg it tries to move the game folder to the same place (from and to the same directory)then it crashes deleting that game folder.

PSN LIBERATOR tries to keep each source in it's original state. Thats why it copys source(GameID-folder or extracted PKG) to target-directory first before fixing.
If i understand right u're trying to do a fix-in-place and this isn't supported.
I think i'll simply add a check for this situation giving you a warning message that fix-in-place isn't supported.

If u liberate as a "Game folder" the result will be for example a "BCUS12345" and thats the problem here.
Changing the name of the output folder to something like "BCUS12345 (LIberated Game)" should fix this.

Why continue to convert a game that can't be succesfully converted because vital information is missing ?

But another thing i don't like is that if u try to liberate a bunch of PKGs at once LIBERATOR stops if an error appears. Instead it should notice the error in log and skip to next pkg.

yeah that'll be great and you could add a warning about possible data loss if done that way.

I've added this already and seems to work... may be it is not 100% waterproofed but ok 4 me.

Now i've tried to reproduce the mysterious iso-delete:
- Created F:\PS3ISO and placed some isos inside
- Set Output-Dir to F:\PS3ISO
- Liberated some games to iso
No ISOs are delete here !?

May be u run into that "iso delete"-issue if u select output directory to a FAT32-device and either some of the game-files or the resulting iso is >4GB !?
I can add that you are not allowed to select an output-dir on a fat32 device!?

the only mysterious deleting issue ive had is if the source was a psn game folder and the output was a game folder too or a pkg so i dont think the isos are a problem as the FAT32 size limitation.
