PS3 PSN, Trophies And A Jailbroken PS3

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to apologise if what I am about to ask is something that is commonly brought up on here. Personally, when I searched for answers to my question, I couldn't find anything that directly answers it. So here I am...

So I want to talk about PSN, in particular trophies on my newly jailbroken PS3 (Rebug 4.85.1, if its at all necessary). You see I am not an online player, I prefer only single player games and have no interest in the slightest with playing games online. Yet, I am curious if I could use my main PSN account just for saving the trophies I earn? ... And not get banned for doing so.

A lot of threads I came across on different sites spoke of using a throwaway PSN account due to it eventually getting banned for playing games online. But nothing I seen spoke of users who had no interest in that and only wanted to save the trophies on their main PSN account. I haven't done anything with this yet, it really depends until people respond to my query here.

So even if I disabled the network on my jailbroken PS3, only enabling it to sync any new trophies to my main account and then disabling it again. Would my main account be at risk of getting banned?

Can someone advise me on this?

sometimes bans happen for no apparent reason. a throwaway account is always a good idea. i make a second user and sign up for psn and activate it for games. i make sure auto sign in is turned off and require the password to be entered before it will sign in. then i set the first user to load at boot so i doesnt ask you each time. if you want internet but not psn then use psnpatch to block it (i think rebug blocks some things itself). you can also block sony ips with a router or firewall. block system updates too but game update servers are fine. i wouldnt recommend backing up trophies. with rebug you can just unlock each one from xmb. if you dont want internet just disconnect after activating. i have mine connected to a router with no internet. i can play lan games between 2 ps3s and ftp files.

if you disable the internet in the xmb network settings it can cause problems with webman mod it better to unplug (or in my case turn off router)

Thanks, It's a shame I cant sync the trophies I earn to my main account without it risking a ban... It's not even like I'm playing games online... But oh well I suppose.

what if you get all your trophies offline, then back up your system storage to a flashdrive. then restore the ps3 to an official firmware then restore your system data. then upload your trophies.

dunno. trophies are just one of those things you just have to accept you can't get safely. I plan to buy a superslim next month, then never hack it, just for the trophies, because I'd be very angry if I got banned after getting many trophies. personally, I don't think any hacked system belongs online and shouldn't use those features.

Connecting hacked console to SEN is always ban risking. No matter what You doing...

The safest possible way to syncing is cleaning homebrew trace (apps, cache etc.) and jumping to Dual Boot CFW, then sync and going back to CFW.

I'm gonna try this thread (since it's quite new), don't really see the point of a new thread for this. I

I recently got a second PS3, and I am planning on hacking it (probably HEN, maybe CFW, but I'm leaning towards HEN).

So for the safety measurements I was thinking that I would separate the systems as:

Legit system - Legit account (online, trophies and all that)

Hacked system - Burner account. Only use to activate system (for HEN) and for system update (to be able to do the activation). Then sign out and go offline. No online gaming, trophies and such. If possible only sign in to activate system before installing HEN, and then go off again. So never even burner account active while hacked. (is that possible?) Only connected to internet if absolutley needed, but never signed in.

Anything else?

(Only thing linking systems/accounts would of course be using them on same network, even if it's just one time signing in to activate system on the second system. I could go the whole VPN/proxy route for that as well, but perhaps extensive?)

a vpn or proxy won't matter. they ban the idps, not usually the ip, since it would be so easy to get around it.
Makes sense.
I know we had this discusson (separation of legit & hacked systems) recently. Thought a bit more on it and this is what I gathered.

the only way to be 100% risk free is to have a legit system. I was going to go that route just to get trophies, because after having been banned once, I don't want to sign in at all. I only have once, and that was to get my act.dat. anyway, I encountered a problem with the ps shop and my account on the legit system, so I gave up on the idea. I guess I just won't bother syncing trophies.

Yeah. By separating the systems and the accounts I guess the risk is if it would be detected that those systems has used same network connection. But that seems like a longshot, given that it could be many reasons for that to happen.

Off topic: Yeah I saw that that didn't work out. Bummer. Seems to be widespread with diffrent types of issues from trying to purchase from ps3 storefront. There should probably have been more time inbetween the news being put out and the actual shutdown. Maybe would have eased up the shitblizzard a bit when everyone is grabbing their digital copies at once.

I'm trying to get a refund for my purchases on the 2nd, but the person, after asking why I wanted a refund, stopped responding. damn sony pisses me off.

Well, I've been using my PS3 mostly offline for years, and sometimes I use SEN Enabler & Del CFW SYSCALLS before I sync my trophies and so far I've never been banned from anything. I've been on the same PSN for my PS3/PS4/PSP/PSV CFW & OFW from 2012 to 2021 so far. I've just been playing it safe.

Hi, do you think it's still relatively safe to do so? I have a PS3 with HEN and am planning on playing offline only since I have no interest in multiplayer games (I have a legit PS4 for that), but it would be nice to just sync some trophies every now and then

Should be fine as long as all your trophies are legit, but there's no such thing as 100% safe.

Thanks! By the way, can my console get banned if I update games automatically through the internet (even though you don't need to be logged into PSN to do that)? Do people advice on manually installing the patch by downloading the PKG file? or it doesn't matter at all?

You can't get banned if you're not signed in to PSN. AFAIK the console does not send the IDPS when downloading game updates, and even if I'm mistaken, there's probably no way of detecting CFW on the server side during a simple game update.
