PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

okay so i would have to get a hardware fan controller to control me fan speeds then.

Also do you think i should use webman mod to disable syscals and delete history or psn patch in your preference?
Hardware controller? No, Fan control will become static instead of dynamic, that's all.
If you use the right setting for ps2 temperature in wMM setup page, you should not have problems. That's what most CFW users have been doing for a long time now.

@kokotonix answered your second query already. Use psnpatch for everything.

Remember that PSN games & DLC are dependent of the ID set you used when you downloaded them. If you spoof the ids when you install something from PSN, you will need to spoof ids also to play them.

I like to keep webman running after syscalls are disabled to be able to still display the temperature, control the fan and keep the shutdown key combo.

I prefer to use psnpatch to auto lock psn access, disable syscalls, delete history, spoof psid, spoof idps, and all the other things it does.
so how do I use the psn patch plugin without it unloading webman mod

i've used multiple CID's on the same game ?

So change the fan speed in the ps2 emulator fan speed box or the lowest fan speed box?

And would you recommend for me to unload webman or keep it loaded when using psn patch

Using different psid/idps with the same Dlc or psn downloaded game should not work.
Am not talking about retail games that can connect to PSN, the restriction is true for stuff issued by psn. Like a dlc for example.
As a matter of fact, I just had this problem yesterday with an Assassin Creed dlc that I downloaded when spoofed & forgot about. Had to spoof to get it to show in the main game otherwise it does not work.

Set the PS2 temperature not the lowest temp!

Personally I unload everything most of the time. I only keep webMAN-MOD running for testing purposes but never for general use.
However it's for you to decide. If temperature control is such a big issue due to overheating or if you live in a hot country, you may want to keep dynamic control. Otherwise imho, it really isn't necessary in general.

OK it says "ps2 emulator fan speed" is that the correct one?

And Im on about games from disc lol, I've never even tried or felt comfortable trying a game that is downloaded straght from the psn store haha.

I don't live in a hot country so should I set the fan speed to around 40%?

Yes ps2 emulator fan speed.

In general, it should be anything between 35 & 45%.
40% is a good place to start. Check the temperature (use wMM combo) after playing 30mn on 40% fan & see. I like to keep my temperature cool around 60 Celsius, some use a higher threshold... It also depends on the noise factor..

Okay and I can't check the temperature if I unload webman can I?

And the PS2 fan speed only kicks in when I unload webman correct?

If I don't unload webman mod the lowest fan speed option and dynamic fan control are used and not the PS2 fan speed correct ?

Mates, remember that this is a psnpatch thread.
If you don't have more questions about it, try to forward webman issues into its own thread.

Try to keep this thread clean.

Why don't you do the testing in manual mode instead of disabling wMM. Simply disable dynamic fan control & use 40% as your default value.
You can use wMM to check the temps.

Another way would be to use the Fan Control Utility brew (get it from brewology store). Just to do the testing with.

Sorry @kokotonix, we are derailing the thread here!

Oh of course silly me I'm stupid haha

And sorry @kokotonix just one more question and I'll be out of here

Does the PS2 emulator fan speed kick in when I unload webman mod ?

Already answered man!
Yes, when the plugin stops, fan control is set to ps2 emulator speed.

I've got psn patch running in "intercept" mode (on rebug 4.80.1) and the setup/integration seems awesome but I still have app_home showing in XMB... would it be possible for psn patch (plugin) to disable this automatically with CFW etc in intercept mode too?

I don't remember anything about app_home being removed by PSNPatch.
To remove app_home you need to edit xml files in /dev_flash such as category_game.xml.
Edited xml files have been released by fellow users look for them!

For what I remember (it was a awhile I've looked into that code), psnpatch didn't edit category_game.xml in rebug for compatibility reasons.

category_game.xml editing is tricky. It can lead to all sort of problems if not properly done.
If I remember correctly, it took several hours for devs to produce a functional category_game.xml with xmbm+ support to be included in the last Rebug.

But it can be done...
One would need to look at existing xml files in all cfw releases to find a common way to remove the app_home nodes. That's the tricky part.
Then it's trivial to use libxml to code the parsing & editing of the xml file in an appropriate manner.
The same code can also be used to add/remove xmbm+ support & more...
I have been meaning to try to do this for a while now & either include it in wMM as a web command or in a vsh_menu style tool. Once my current project is over, I shall look into it.

Thanks a lot for the replys kokotonix and bguerville. I had tried to remove app_home previously by editing the files manually but it didn't seem to sit well with rebug (iirc it worked once but wouldn't stick, the edits seemed to be detected and reset or ignored). If it's possible in future to add an option in rebug webman mod to disable app_home which psn patch intercept mode can detect that would be amazing. I am really grateful for psn patch though, I didn't know at first it could work with webman mod in intercept mode and I'm so impressed, I love how the plugin works alongside my rebug/webman setup. Really appreciate everything and the info and advice. Have a good one guys :)
