PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

I can not believe it either. But it's the modem crap that the service provider gave me (u.u).

I did not know that I could with android, I will investigate a little to see if I can do it.

Thanks for your answers
For all servers on Android, like dlna/samba/ftp/proxy servers etc... I use an app called Servers Ultimate Pro (there is also a free version, both versions available on Playstore) with the various server packs addons.
It does everything I need.
In a proxy server, you can add rules to block ips or urls.

I recently updated to 4.81.2 rebug and installed the latest version of psnpatch. However, after installing the plugin, the PS3 freezes about 10 seconds after I start it up. It does not freeze in recovery mode.

Is restoring to CFW and deleting my data the only way to fix this?

How did you installed the plugin ?
Which configurations did you made ?

Hi, @kokotonix , I have a question.
I recently changed my modem, in my old modem had blocked the following url:
Http://xmb-e.dl.playstation.net

The new modem does not allow me to block url, so the question is:

Is it important for you to block these addresses? Greetings and thanks.

In my opinion there's no need to block additional addresses.
Psnpatch already block everything at start up.
It will unlock addresses when you want to connect to psn, but they should be unblocked to connect, and at that mounted your system is already mimicking a ofw (syscalls disabled) so there's no need to block addresses anymore.

"How to Use (Summary by kozarovv)
General rule is to install psn patch ----> run ----> go to toolbox (select) ----> install psnpatch plugin. After that restart your PS3."

I followed the guide here step by step. Didn't change anything.

Didn't you , by chance, installed the non cobra plugin handler ???

If not, I suggest to simply reinstall rebug. Confirm cobra activation.
Install Psnpatch and the plugin.

u can do it in the recovery menu. rebug has only negated the bluray disc updates in the recovery menu since that's where the system looks for an update first. just put the update on a flash drive PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP (make sure to have it in all caps). and, then, install and ur done.

just tried another (freshly formatted, fat32) one with the same results.

that's strange. could be ur hard drive. updates r transferred to dev_hdd1, a temporary, 2GB partition. normally, it would scan, find the update, transfer to dev_hdd1, then install. I could be wrong about ur issue though. it's difficult to know what's going on. can u reinstall the firmware from within the xmb? I've heard of weird bugs with the recovery menu on rebug. I've never personally encountered them though.

I'm unable to get to the XMB as the console freezes within 10-15 seconds of me starting it up (usually around the time I reach the user selection screen)

do u have a spare hdd to try with the system? that will either confirm or deny the hdd as being the issue.

My system is one that has a broken rebug install via recovery. Was playing with it during the week trying to see what causes it. It appears to be related to having installed petitboot (maybe just resizing the vflash region) and requires a fsm downgrade (and not installing petitboot again) to rectify (on my CECHLxx).

If you've never touched petitboot in the past, it should be alright to install rebug directly from recovery. Installs fine from XMB regardless of whether you have a "broken" recovery or not.. :)

Edit: @frogboy - Only time my system has frozen like that was when I tried to load the psnpatch plugin with a debug mode cobra stage2.bin installed. Trying to do a database rebuild or something in recovery should force it to delete the boot_plugins.txt and get you back into the XMB if that's the case.

Once you're back in the XMB, replace the debug mode cobra with a release mode cobra stage2.bin and psnpatch should work fine. :)

(Or reinstalling rebug from the xmb should clean things up automatically)

Edit 2: Don't get confused by debug and release modes with cobra, you'll find there is a CEX and a DEX stage2 file in both directories. You generally want the release mode version. :)
