PSX and PS2 graphics

Afternoon all,
So, loading either iso/bin dumps, or pkg installs for some classics can lead to some very odd graphical behaviour; namely tearing, temporary black out of screen, glitching of certain textures. Is there anything I can do to increase the quality of the graphical outputs? I'm not expecting 1080p outputs or anything like that, I'm perfectly happy for original output quality, I'm just hoping to get the game loading properly.
I should note, I'm loading them straight from the xmb, not using multiman as a launcher or anything like that.

unofficial ps2 classics will likely cause graphical glitches, because it's a 100% emulation. I reckon you use non BC ps3.
ps1 and ps2 game render resolution cannot be enhanced.
