Hi everyone,
I'm trying to repair a Sony PSX DESR-7000 with a bad hard drive.
I already have a Sony official PS2 HDD, model SCPH-20401, and I've seen people say this drive can be used in some PSX restoration attempts. What I still don't understand is how people actually made it work.
Did anyone here successfully use the SCPH-20401 in a PSX DESR?
If yes, how did you do it exactly?
I'd especially like to know:
I'm not looking to damage my original drive, so I'm trying to understand the proper process before doing anything.
Thanks in advance.

I'd especially like to know:
- Did you clone the original PSX HDD 1:1 to the SCPH-20401?
- Did you need to prepare the HDD first in any special way?
- Did you use a PSX update disc after that?
- Was this done on a DESR-5000, DESR-7000, or another model?
- Did DVR functions still work afterward?
I'm not looking to damage my original drive, so I'm trying to understand the proper process before doing anything.
Thanks in advance.
