Hi everyone.

Im new here, and Im looking for help , no long ago, I got 2 PSX DVR from Japan, I got model 7000 and 7100.

The 7000 works great, it boots fine, I can see the orange HDD led status blinking and goes to de XMB and everything works..just had the first memory card slot not working because got broken from PCB I believe because constant use..but I already soldered back and now works great.
I tested the disc drive and is working, it can read music CD, and with freeMcboot can read US PS2 games with no problems.

The problem came with the 7100 model.. It turns on and i can see the splash PSX screen but then just black screen and the system hangs.. I had to unplug the thing ..There is no orange light blinking at all from HDD, so i though maybe a disconnected flex? so I dissasembled the unit (never opened before) but everithing was in good order that , so maybe I have a dead HDD. Everything else works great,, i can use Free Mcboot and play PS2 games so the drive is working fine..

I try with HDD Checker but it says that the HDD isnt working..And was reading somewhere that I better not use HDDchecker in a PSX...

Someone at reddit told me that maybe here I could find help, that I need unencripted partition files to format the right way my HDD..

Can someone help me please, how can I bring back this HDD?, how can I format it?

Thanks

in order to correctly format the HDD on PSX, you first need to install the FMCB for it on the memory card, and then run UlaunchELF, if your HDD is identified in the HDD manager in UlaunchELF, you can try formatting it, if the HDD is working, UlaunchELF will create all the necessary partitions itself, if it will not see the HDD then there are two options, either you are using the wrong version of UlaunchELF which is not compatible with PSX, or your HDD is dead. If when you turn on the PSX you do not hear the sound of the HDD spinning up then it is dead, alternatively you can install and format the official HDD from PS2 , by placing the firmware files from the desired PSX model on it, you will be able to boot into XMB, but the functionality of the console will be limited

You should never recommend formatting as is. he must format it ONLY if the game area is extended. otherwise, HDD drivers size boundaries will behave wierdly, causing the creation of abnormaly sized partitions.

I already formatted the HDD with the game zone size set to 0GB in XMB via UlaunchELF, absolutely nothing happened, the standard 40GB partition was re-created, I threw back all the firmware files, in XMB I set the game zone size to 40GB and everything worked as usual, the DVR partition at all no harm
