PSX-Scene, a way to go back in time

Because there will be not. SP193, author of a fork of 1.8c never released it and for some time now he's disappeared. :(

XEB+ could be alternative once it will be finished. ;}

Wow, XEB+ looks promising.

It goes against the FMCB license (line 75): https://github.com/TnA-Plastic/FreeMcBoot/blob/master/LICENSE.txt
Plus, there are a lots of limits in how big the resultant ELF can be and the uncompressed splashes makes it huge...
I got permission from jimmykaelkael to implement the new splashes.

I didn't even know FMCB isn't free (like in free speech). Better not waste time on this anymore...

Will the XEB+ project and the XEB+ installer be free software by the definition of the Free Software Foundation?
He was very clear:

I think you're confusion XEB+'s installer with the whole XEB+ project, but, as you wish...

A part uses GPL-3.0 license and another parts uses a custom license.
Installer: Distribution limitations. No reuploads or repacks are allowed to be shared on third party websites (meaning that they should always link the download to XEB+'s website or it's mirror). That's made to avoid people making repacks which might cause issues.
A note will be added that if the hosting site and the mirror both goes down for more than a week, reuploads and repacks will be allowed in third party sites from that point onwards.
Dashboard: The credits of the original authors should not be removed from specific parts of the code.
You're free to share it anywhere in the internet, but the download link must always be the one in XEB+'s website, not your own reupload to MEGA or a fishy repack. This measure is taken to avoid problems to noob users. Many YouTubers or users at forums tend to upload custom repacks of software which sometimes does not behaves as they should due to modifications being made to them. This is for safety. And, as I said before: that limitation only applies to the "installer". You're free to compile the "dashboard", modify it (except for changing the author's credits) and upload your own dashboard's fork anywhere and instruct users on how to replace the original one with yours. Also, you can make your own installer from scratch, but the, users will notice the big difference. See? Not that limited, right?
What we want to avoid is confusions in noob users while we don't limit pro users. I think my approach on the licensing fits properly that.

The dashboard has almost no complex restrictions, just keep credits in one place as it seems. Most free software licenses has similar restrictions regarding the credits, so it is not so different to other licenses out there.
The installer is what has a distribution restriction, and IMO, it is not that bad. You can only download the installer from the developer's website.
I think that's a good move. Various users posts FMCB tutorials in forums and YouTube. They mostly upload their own noobie package, which contains software (OPL, ESR, etc) from a moment in time (let's say 2018) and they never get updated afterwards. If a user follows that tutorial in 2022 he will be stuck with 4 years old version of software. Having an enforced download link, pressumibly the same link that now holds the "soon" countdown, is a good solution to always have the most updated download link for a noobie package. Maybe he plans on something like https://www.sdsetup.com/ which will be even better.
I have old XEB+ builds in two of my MCs (one from 2018 and one from 2021) and the dashboard is always an standalone ELF appart from the bootloader. It gives you enough freedom to use any dashboard you edit and compile by yourself or by any other developer. Just as he said:
You're free to compile the "dashboard", modify it (except for changing the author's credits) and upload your own dashboard's fork anywhere and instruct users on how to replace the original one with yours.
By doing so, noobs will always be using the stable stuff and pro users simply can download an ELF from elsewhere and replace the one in their setup. I mean, he never said you can post the download link in a forum like this one, he said you can not upload the installer to MEGA or anywhere else. So, I assume I will do no wrong by posting:
"Tutorial:
- Download XEB+'s Installer from here: http://www.hwc.nat.cu/ps2-vault/hwc-projects/xebplus/
- Extract the folder in your pendrive.
- Run Installer.elf and follow the on screen instructions."
See? Totally legal, right? He doesn't said I can't do that. Same as the YouTubers could do in their tutorials.

I just recalled that the new owner secretly started to coin mine using the web browsers of the site members and visitors. Its obvious that the current owner tried to monetize the site with shenanigans and it didn't work out.

This place felt weird from the first second and being here is a waste of time.

The website is a catastrophe in any term (https://webbkoll.dataskydd.net/de/results?url=http://www.psx-place.com/)

There are 116 connections to third parties. Having no software, which blocks it makes this website a collection of viruses/trojans.

For one... Psx-scene.com was a VERY reputable source when I was Co-Administrator there, as well as some years afterwards...

Second... "being here is a waste of time"??? Them why do you "waste time" on posting?

I know evilsperm did this at one time on Rebug.me
I do not recall psx-scene doing it, but its later days who knows. I vaguely recall ps3hax doing it, but i could be wrong there..

The sites didnt work out when as they were being passed around to highest bidder. I kept PSX-Scene revalant longs as i could, but the neglect of the site on its backend was beyond my control

Various Scene sites back in the day were being sold off years ago and bundled together afterwards
PS3HAX / PS3GROOVE (which merged with psx-scene) / PSX-SCENE / DASHHACKS / QJ /

One company bought then up CaputoMedia from the original owners of those sites, they were then sold off again to Keebali Media when owner of Caputo died, then they were sold off to someone else and someone else and someone else and then taken offline..

I was lead writer at psx-scene for several years and also an admin.
I was made aware of what was happening behind the scene's with the sales

That is when I and other decided to start psx-place.com, The writing was on the wall for psx-scene and unfortuntely we were right, but we had psx-place in full flight by then.. But that took alot of work people do not realize.

What could be more of a waste of a time, is posting and "researching" a website you deemed a waste,

Here is one that say's safe. You can find something saying anything
There is nothing malicious here.

I have attempted an XHTML conversion of the archive, so that the web browser will display it inline again.
At some point, Internet Archive disabled inline display of HTML, but this can be worked around by converting to XHTML.

Unfortunately, XHTML is more strict than HTML, so if there is an issue it will stop parsing the document.
Please let me know if there is such case so I can fix it. (I'll probably use Selenium to automate this checking later)

You can find the fixed processed archive here:

https://archive.org/download/psx-scene-processed-archive/index.xhtml

It can also be downloaded as an archive file:
