PS3 pulling out hdd on error 8002f1f9 not working

hi all. im getting the error code 8002f1f9 on my ps3 slim and am stuck in an update loop because the error shows up midway through my update. i've heard about a method to prevent this error involving pulling out the hdd when the hdd led stops blinking about 3-4% before the error, but it doesnt work. without pulling out the hdd, the error happens at 34% through the update. however, if i pull it out at 30%, it goes past 34%, but the error happens at 42%. can anyone help? is there any other method i can use or a way to make this method work? i dont care about any data on the console cuz i barely have any. thanks
