Hello everyone

I've encounter a strange PS5 recently, she is on firmware on 6.0 and a "game" called "QA inspection".

When launching it I immediatly get a "start up failed"

I did not tried it yet with a psvr2

What should I do ?

Could this help developping the PS5 JB scene ?
Is it already known and proved useless ?

This console come from a huge batch I have to repair, possibly Sony RMA never put back into the consumer circuit...

If that can help anyone, I'm very confortable with SMC and QFN soldering, can't work with BGA tho.

My main question is the following : if we are able to JB the PS5 on 6.0 and dump this software, since it seem made for the quality control, could we possibly find a way to remarry PS5 blu-ray or find a vulnerability that could be exploited to get very high privilege ?

I'm a lot curious about that and I bet some of you here would love to reverse engineer this soft, once again, if it has not already proven useless.

You have left over from servicing maybe? I'm not familiar with PS5 but if console was never hacked, this is some very unique stuff and would have some value if decrypted after hack (not sure if this is possible currently).

After some internal thinking I came to the conclusion than this unit might have been used into the QA session of sony and they indeed forget to wipe the unit, the batch is probably stolen (shadowy dude came to sell 50 of them, all listed as defective or ex-RMA of Sony... I fixed 20 of them already... ain't even half way...)

https://gamejobs.co/QA-Tester-at-Sony-Playstation <- might come with this job at Sony

With some luck this QA soft might be cribled with authorization and flaw that would allow us to find out a lot more about PS5.

Hopefully.
Know anyone to @ to get their advice @Berion ?

I would think this would be interesting to quite a few devs out there right now. You could try tagging them with our mention system. Also could be nothing to. Still cool to see though

Thanks Cade, unfortunately I have zero name to @, I'm more familliar with the PS3 community; do you know any ?

thanks for the dump! will talk with my friend and see what he thinks about it.

the console does seem to have passed CS (Customer service)

I was suspecting this indeed.

Note that almost all of the 50 console are now working as digitale console (had to swap bios, they did not put back the original BD drive on each console, this was a shitty work to do trust me.
