PS2 Questions about PS2 FAT's CMOS battery

I have some questions about the CMOS batteries of my FAT PS2 consoles....

- How do I know if the CMOS battery is dead ?

- If the CMOS battery runs out, Can I still play games ? Does it impact gaming at all ?

- Does PS2's console settings get reset when the CMOS battery is dead ?

- Are there any other batteries besides the CMOS battery inside the PS2 ?

- I have 4 FAT consoles: 30001, 39001, 50001 and 50010, Do these have the CMOS battery on board / daughter board, or do they use a CMOS battery with an adapter that is plugged into the board ?

Dead fireflies on ODSYS (one, not moving "dot").
You can play all games and saving in them too.
Yes.
No.
All have.

Yes. I have dried up CMOS on SCPH-30004R and on first boot almost normally: frozen dot, but I don't know about settings because I don't change any (not video output, nor language). But later she start to boot into factory mode which was extremely annoying (on each boot if console wasn't in standby, she asked be to set all possible settings before bring me to OSDSYS or perform OSD Update).

Some games may not work if you have the year set to 2000 (the default year when the CMOS battery is dead). More details here.

On my SCPH-90008, only the time was reset. The settings were not reset because they were saved to the memory card.

Is there a list of games that depend on the internal clock ?

By settings I mean these settings: https://ibb.co/0DtdsnZ

I wonder if it would be possible to make an OPL function to use SMB or UDPBD network communication to retrieve a PC's time and date and use that to update the PS2's time and date. The idea would be that it would run everytime the network connection is made. It would save everyone the hassle of replacing their CMOS. Of course I'm not really sure that OPL can even manipulate the PS2 time and date at will like that. I'm guessing no it can't.

when my Ps2 CMOS battery died it had Red light of death, SCPH-50003

While not as quick and easy to replace the CMOS battery in a PS2 as most PCs, it only takes a couple minutes. You could just replace it if you're concerned about it.

Hello, the Cmos battery of my ps2 console is dead, is it necessary to replace it, because when the console is turned off, the opl program does not work, and I need to delete the system settings from the memory, or if possible, tell me how to reset the watch completely.

I advice to replace the battery, especially if it is a SLIM PS2 because it is an easy job.
Sometimes if a battery is old it has some kind of an acid in it that can get out and it can damage your motherboard:
