PS2 Questions about PSXlauncher.

I want to use my PS1 backup discs on a PS2 with PSXlauncher.
  • Are ALL Slim models compatible with PSXLauncher ?
  • With a Slim console, Do I have to block the lid sensor ? if so, how ?
  • Do I need a PS1 memory card for PSXlauncher ? if so, should it be OEM ? or do 3rd party ones work as well ?

...if you have a Slim, you can use MechaPwn.

I have a 50001 and a 50010/N ... Can I do the mechapwn hack on these ? if so, Can I play my backup NTSC-U PS1 Discs on them ?

Also, what region is 50010 ? The console is a NTSC-U/C but I can't find anything about region code 10 ?

Yeah, 50k are the earliest models where MP can be installed/done. Read the Readme to know what it can do for you, but in any case it basically extends what you can do...

they have revised the readme, before it used to say you can play any region PS1 backups now it say it can only do any region PS1 original discs.

I've been considering this method, since soft-modded ps2 only allow installation of PSX emulators like Popstarter or PSXPS2e, which have only 75-80% compatibility of games, when you can just pop in any authentic ps1 game and get full 100% support.

Take a look at this list and you'll find out that compatibility isn't actually 100%.
That doesn't have anything to do with Tonyhax/PSXLauncher though. These games have issues irregardless. Fortunately, only 2 or 3 games off that list bothered me, and there is oddly even a section of PS2 games that have some issues.

Yes.
Yes. Flip top lid. Fleabay.
Yes. Yes. Some do but a lot don't. And you can lose all your saves. Do not buy the white 1.49 ones they are a scam and will fail when you reach over 50 percent. Then there are other 3rd party ones that maybe work.

Copy a full memory card over to it if that works and you can see and load all the saves, then the memory card is probably good.

You put a real PS1 game cd in then close and launch PSXLAUNCHER. Then the disc will stop spinning and you use flip top mod to change it out for backup disc.

Cheers

It doesn't have to and hence this "argument" is void from the start...

What did you write about again? Oh... Game-compatibility (in that comment) and not exploits... and hence his comment was perfectly fine!

Not odd AT ALL, considering it's the "DECKARD"-Section and they didn't even split compatibility up between models. Newer models have more XPARAM-Patches...
