PS2 Questions about ToxicBIOS and ToxicOS

Do ToxicBIOS and ToxicOS have settings that can increase PS1 and PS2 game compatibility and does ToxicOS just load games from an IDE HDD, not a SATA HDD/SSD/SSHD too?

Are there other menus (like ToxicBIOS) and programs (like ToxicOS) made for other modchips than DMS4 Lite and DMS4 Pro and can other modchips run games from USB and/or IDE/SATA HDD (and SSD/SSHD)?

I read ToxicOS is a custom HD Loader for DMS4 modchips made by the developer of HD Loader. Is it true and is it more obsolete than HD Loader? Does it have the same PS2 game compatibility as it? Can HD Loader/HDadvance load PS2 games from an IDE HDD, not a SATA HDD/SSD/SSHD too?

Does Neutrino support SMB, is it faster and more compatible than OPL and can it only be ran via commands on the PC and doesn't have a GUI like OPL?

EDIT: It seems DMS4 Pro can run both ToxicBIOS and ToxicOS and DMS4 Lite can only run the former. DMS4 Lite was targeted for the PS2 Slim because it's not compatible with HDDs unlike the PS2 Fat. Both DMS4 Pro and DMS4 Lite have clones (like Mars Pro, DMS4 SE Pro and DMS4 SE Lite).

Apparently, there are solderless DMS4 modchips called DMS4 Pro EZI and DMS4 Lite EZI and they have clones called DMS4 Pro EZI SE and DMS4 Lite EZI SE.

It appears some ToxicBIOS buttons may not work at boot and ToxicBIOS may go in an infinite saving screen when saving settings if using clones (like Mars Pro and DMS4 SE Lite).

No.

SSD/SSHD/more too!

No.
Btw.: ToxicOS is available as decrypted ELF!
can other modchips run games from USB and/or IDE/SATA HDD (and SSD/SSHD)?
Yes. Via apps like OPL.

It IS!

Any HDL is obsolete, including the ToxicOS HDL.
Does it have the same PS2 game compatibility as it?
Pretty much, yes.
Can HD Loader/HDadvance load PS2 games from a IDE HDD, not a SATA HDD/SSD/SSHD too?
Yes.
Does Neutrino support SMB,
Yes.

In SOME games the compatibility seems to be different!

GUIs are possible, but only one for USB exists specifically for Neutrino, or you can use OPL-Neutrino by crt0.

Not even with specific titles?

And does it support SATA HDDs and IDE and SATA SSDs and SSHDs? What do you mean by "more"?

I read some modchips also have menus.

So, they can't run them by themselves, only via apps, like OPL? Can all of them run apps (ELFs) in the first place? Also, I think I read somewhere that USB support can be added to ToxicOS, and if so, can it run games from USB or just files (like ELFs)?

OK, but is it less updated than HD Loader or HDadvance?

Pretty much? How so?

Then why isn't it said in its GitHub repo it supports it?

For the better or for the worse?

How can it exist? Is it run via XEB+ and do games appear right in the GUI? Is that OPL-Neutrino fork basically an OPL version which runs Neutrino in the background?

Oh, I misread! Yes, it has compatibility modes. It doesn't load PS1-games.
And does it support SATA HDDs and IDE and SATA SSDs and SSHS? What do you mean by "more"?
Works with all of them...
I read some modchips also have menus.
For settings...

ELFs are the executables of the PS2. Doesn't have much to do with the chip.

Neither are updated... Only OPL and Neutrino are...

Mind quoting sentences? Same for the rest...

It's basically the same HDL with minimal patches.

Like OPL, PS2ESDL and HD Loader/HDadvance? What about settings that improve PS2 compatibility other than compatibility modes? The ones I mentioned do, at least.

Works with all of them...

Are there even IDE SSDs and IDE SSHDs?

ELFs are the executables of the PS2. Doesn't have much to do with the chip.

I was talking about the PS2 game loaders, not the chips. Can all of them run apps (ELFs)?

What patches?

For settings...

That's what I asked. Are they like ToxicBIOS? OK, then no other modchips have other game loaders (like HD Loader/HDadvance, USBEXTREME/USBadvance, PS2ESDL, OPL and ToxicOS itself) already integrated and they can't run games via USB, HDD and I suppose SMB without using apps. How are the apps ran on the modchips that don't have menus (like ToxicBIOS), the "normal" way (via apps like wLE), then?

Pretty much, yes.

What do you mean by ToxicOS having pretty much the same compatibility as HD Loader/HDadvance? According to what I searched, HD Loader's compatibility is higher. Also, what is patched HD Loader?

GUIs are possible, but only one for USB exists specifically for Neutrino, or you can use OPL-Neutrino by crt0.

Are commands needed on the Pc to make Neutrino work? So, is the only USB GUI Neutrino's? Is it run via XEB+ and do games appear right in the GUI? Is that OPL-Neutrino fork basically an OPL version which runs Neutrino in the background?

Why does OPL's GitHub repo says MX4SIO and i.LINK support is experimental?

Is USB on OPL more compatible than SMB but slower?

What are the advantages of modchips if ESR can make burned PS2 games work in unmodded consoles (so, no unscrewing and soldering needed)? Run PS1 games? Is ESR more compatible with PS2 games than modchips? Are modchips more compatible with PS1 games than POPStarter?

Also, what more PS2 game loaders exist, besides HD Loader/HDadvance, ToxicOS, USBEXTREME/USBadvance, PS2ESDL, OPL and Neutrino? Do all of them support CUE/BIN, ul, ISO, PDI and ZSO PS2 games? What's HD Loader/HDadvance format? Isn't it ISO? Which of them support MBR, GPT and APA/APAEXT and FAT32, NTFS, exFAT and PFS? I think only ToxicOS supports APAEXT, only PS2ESDL supports PDI and only OPL supports ZSO.

Didn't I do wrong by mentioning that issue in this thread instead of creating a new one dedicated to it, in the first place?
There shouldn't even need to be a rule about this, it's common sense really.
Creating multiple posts in one or multiple threads asking the same thing is a big NO-NO!!!
Flooding the forum with roughly the same post simply annoys EVERYONE, not just mods and admin.
The practical result of such a practice is that nobody is inclined to reply at all. Your posts may get deleted or merged, it automatically means more work for mods, who won't thank you for it, believe it.

As to bumping very old threads just to ask a new question, it's very seldom a good idea. One might do that in specific cases assuming one has very good reasons to do so. In 99% of cases, it's better to create a new thread altogether if there's not already an appropriate thread still ongoing to post in...

For me it's not.

I also asked about different things and created many threads regarding different subjects and I wasn't replied in most of them.

Who says I want to be thanked?

What very old threads are you talking about? I thought one should search the forum first to know about the thing he wants before crrating a thread regarding it.

I believe you didn't understand the intent of my post.
You seem to believe I am arguing with you, I am not, I am merely telling you how things work in this forum, nothing more, nothing less.
I do not intend to debate anything here with you therefore any further reply to me will automatically be deleted.
If you have a complaint to make, contact the admin.
Have a good day.

Then why didn't you do the same with the users who answered me?

Sorta Crystal Chip, Prodigy (crystal chip clone using BootManager 1.0 have a full menu system. Crystal Chip being the superior to all modchips really....but even though the Elf is supplied by team, it looks for a CC to be installed to run. So far It only runs from where FW calls it (can be edited to run anything really) and from PS2 Link over network, useful for testing/maintaining the scripts.

Not true. DMS4 Lite and DMS4 SE Lite simply have less storage. They can both run external Toxic OS, but not from on chip flash like DMS4 Pro, DMS4 SE Pro. NON-SE is for phats. After that the FPGA VHDL code changed to support bootrom 2.00+ for slims. The team never finished their support for later slims including 77K (I believe) Things get janky on 77K and later especially for discs. Homebrew is mostly fine.

Apparently, there are solderless DMS4 modchips called DMS4 Pro EZI and DMS4 Lite EZI and they have clones called DMS4 Pro EZI SE and DMS4 Lite EZI SE.

Not true. The team made DMS4 Lite and PRO EZIs and DMS4 SE Lite and Pro EZIs. They are not clones. However recommended to collect but not install. They have a tendency to damage the ICs they clip on to.

It appears some ToxicBIOS buttons may not work at boot and ToxicBIOS may go in an infinite saving screen when saving settings if using clones (like Mars Pro and DMS4 SE Lite).

Yes. Avoid clones in general. The OGs are superior in every way. Ghost 2, DMS3, MI, DMS4, Crystal Chip in that order from worst to best
Keep in mind the Green Dot Matrix infinity is the only MI to "fully" support V14 models and later. The rest will work if you update the FW for homebrew...mostly but disc problems abound if installing in V14 and later for the other dot colors.
