PS3 Questions since we're waiting on OFW 4.89 to bgtoolset

Great to see @aldostools here I was a big fan of your site when I was younger and starting on internet, lots of interesting software there!

I decided to give a 2nd chance my the old PS3 a CECH-2004B, though I thought it was on an older firmware, somehow it was or it managed to get updated to an 4.8X, and then I forced to the last one, 4.89 since I could not do anything on the xploit site, and I thought it would work (my mistake here)

So I'm wondering lots of things about the update process, why the bgtoolset and other options, youtubers have lots of videos but don't get into the real deal.

So... questions.
Without a flasher, in OFW 4.89, I'm stuck if I want to have a CFW, until bgtoolset is available again, right?

OFW updates.... I've read somewhere that they're universal, they can be downloaded and work on any PS3.
Yet, with this option no downgrade possible.

So then, bgtoolset have the ability to trick the console from (lots of versions) to use CFW so it may be installable with a USB and the original menu options, right? I mean... Why OFW work, and CFW need to run the toolset on each PS3?
(Something with keys I guess but I'm little bit curious, I know its delicated question and probably long, if you reply you can keep it simple).

Factory reset would do something? I've read my minium is 2.70, would it return to that?

HEN way... I know I could use HEN though I know I would be missing some options (compare table)
Is it possible to downgrade using HEN?

If I use HEN for a while, will I be able to use CFW easily when bgtoolsite are avaiblable? That means CFW from HFW? Will I need to go to OFW then CFW or something like that?

Read a lot about HDD encryption too, but I'm not sure that messing with the firmware can do something on it, just for people that replace it or change it... though I read that having a copy of some files is usefull since CFW might get some deleted.

To my poing of view, waiting is recomended but don't know utill when... and seen so many old post that I had many doubts.

no. it will remain on the currently installed firmware version but lose all saves, installed games, images, music, etc.

no. hen was made for the models that can not be downgraded (but hen will run on all models).

yes, very easy. no need to install ofw first.

cfw can get the key to decrypt on PC. hen can not get the key. you can copy files from ps3 using FTP or USB. the files will not be encrypted when you copy them. the encrpytion keys are on needed if your ps3 is dead and you want to hook up the hard drive to PC to retrieve files.

yes. use hfw + hen for now. when bgtoolset is back online, there will lots of people moving from hen to cfw, so there will lots of questions and advice posted at that time.
