Quick question about the PS2 software emulation.

Is safe to assume that a game that has a PS2 classic version would play fine on the emulator, if I use the same region?
I'm still confused about the whole config files ordeal.

Yes, everything that has been published in the PSN store under the label "PS2 classic" runs using the PS2 emulator named ps2_netemu.self

If the game was published in the PSN store it means it passed the quality control and is good enought to be sold (in other words, the game should not have any problem), otherway they could not publish it :)
Imagine you pay for a PS2 classic in the PSN store but the game have problems with textures or glitches... this is not aceptable

The detail you should keep in mind is some of that PS2 classics published in the PSN store contains a CONFIG file that allows either to configure "settings" of the emulator or to "patch" the ISO/RAM on the fly
If the game had a CONFIG for it then we should consider that CONFIG is perfect and you should use it because is a official CONFIG made by sony

The other PS2 games not published in the PSN store, some works fine without CONFIG, others have a non-official CONFIG that fixes the problems, and others doesnt have any CONFIG because the attempts to make a CONFIG specific for them was not good enought

Thanks, anyway to better manage config files? Aside from using managunz? I would rather launch the game through webman only.

I dont use webman, but if i remember right in the latest versions was implemented some functions to manage PS2 configs
Additionally you need to install a PKG that contains some hundreds of configs (the same ones included in a default installation of managunz)

I think I've seem this pkg here, do you know where the config files would go upon installation?

Not involved, but it does install ps2 configs dev_hdd0/game/PS2CONFIG/ , it will not show in game data unless you rebuild the database but that does not matter, they can still be used regardless on CFW.

BUT I think HEN requires encrypted configs, and I don't know much about PS2 on HEN so will let someone else answer.

There are some games which run neither as a PS2 Classic on PS3 or PS4, nor on PCSX2, but only on a real PS2! ;)

My question is about the iso naming, I'm aware that I can put the config alongside the iso, just naming it like the iso, but if I use this pkg would I have to use a special name for every iso?

On a side note, I'm really impressed by the software emulation, I only tried two games so far, Battle Stadium D.O.N and Kingdom hearts.
D.O.N has a small graphical glitch on character faces, and KH suffer from a slightly longer loading times, but both games run just fine and the upscale to 720p really boosted the graphics.
