PS4 qwertyoruiop now shows [unreleased] kernel exploit for 5.00 PS4 FW

PS4 hacker qwertyoruiop has been making light work of the PS4 on firmware 5.00, first he showed a webkit exploit running when he tweeted the screenshot via his twitter feed over the weekend, at the time the hacker was also suggesting he had found several bugs to gain a kernel exploit. Yesterday a simple tweet was made by Qwertyoruiop "ps4 kernel code exec on 5.00 achieved at last!" followed by the screenshot posted today as seen below of the kernel exploit being loaded in the PS4 web-browser. Now this is good news, but i must give a warning about getting too excited as the dev has not released previous exploits. Its remains a mystery to when a PS4 exploit may be released to the public, but we do know there is alot of development going on with the PS4 by some talented guys and at some point will be very beneficial to many. A current exploit is so close but also so far away but nonetheless this progress is exciting to see.

Great to see some progress on the Ps4 scene. I remember the amazing explosion of cool things for the Ps3 when it first got jailbroken with the teensy and other usb dongle thingys.
A CFW for the Ps4, that would be a great Christmas gift for all the talented people in the homebrew scene.

The f0f blog entry might be useless to you maybe but it's not useless to everyone else... At the very least it makes possible a ps4 playground on 4.06... I would not call that useless...
And in practice, I take such a f0f article any day as opposed to news + a browser screenshot never followed by any explanation or release whatsoever...

too bad it's useless now that's been patched for almost a year...

Maybe it's useless for You but remember that something which is trash for one person, is a diamond for another... For example me, when something like HENkaku will come out, I'm going to the shop to buy PS4 and updating to v4.05 just because not hacked console is useless in the same manner as playing online and their social stuff is total waste of time. :P

True that, it's way better than
A) not having it at all
B) some article about vaporware

I don't get why these guys don't release their knowledge when it might be beneficial to the whole community instead of waiting until the firmware gets dated and only a reduced group can get to use it. They are also directly responsible for the price inflation of consoles on said or older firmware

1. Kernel hacking is a serious business, not everyone are ideologist and doing something from passion. Unfortunately.
2. F0 have "bad experience" doing last Sony console hacking. ;]
3. Patience is gold, like silence sometimes. ;]

Not useless and is better the 1.76 route but will not launch a homebrew scene. unless there is an option to downgrade at some point. you can't launch a homebrew scene when everyone has to eeek new hardware. Then as time passes same boat as 1.76. (migth not be as hard as 1.76 is to track down, but still will require 2nd ps4 that are on that firmware.)

Hard or expensive avenue to jailbreak = Not much of a scene. To little to late on this release for it to be a great exploit. Could of been . Some might say well i can afford a 3nd , 3rd PS4 no issues, but the scene is about all and if most are unwilling to do that then not much of a scene . Plus when you have Teasers by devs of current exploits as well. There is confusion. Should i invest in a new console or wait until this new stuff is released or leaked. So the timing of this release is not great in that way as well.

Unless we get a current firmware hacked this is all useless in the sense of launching a viable homebrew platform. but not useless in the scene its progress from 1.76 and will be more obtainable then 1.76 and will be great for devs to research. but for AVG user's no way would i ay go out and by a new console. This IMO is not the exploit the PS4 has been waiting for. Came too late.

Nobody said the contrary... Well, not me anyway...
Am not sure why you are replying to me in that regard...
A 4.06 playground is not useless, it's progress no matter how one cuts it. And whatever other considerations about what it may or may not trigger is another problem altogether that I had no intention to get into...

I edited my post as you were replying and not directed towards you as much as just putting additional thoughts to the comment. Most people are going to think "should i go buy a 4.05 PS4" my answer would be no. this is not the holy-grail PS4 exploit yet. Not useless but not useful to many people IMO.

Edit:
Not saying this is not progress but its just not the exploit the PS4 needs at this time. Its better then 1.76 (or will be) but still has many of the issues 1.76 presents and that is all i am saying here.

2 sides to this, like most things. :)

I think this is different (better) to the 1.76 hack, it has quite a few advantages and no real disadvantages I can think of.
  • Ps4s are cheaper now.
  • When 1.76 was exploited there was nothing available for the exploit, so no great reason for users to stick on the low fw.
  • The Pro is available on this firmware
  • Way way more games available that work on 4.05, more features in the firmware etc.
  • Some progress has been made over the last year or so on 1.76, Linux, backups etc, so that should speed up development on this new exploit.
  • Backups are confirmed working by reputable source! Before now people would not have been sure it was even possible, now there is hope!
  • Lots of people who missed out on getting a 1.76 ps4 will not want to make the same mistake again, so you will have all the 1.76 users, plus the 4.05 owners added to the scene.
Just need a release now to make these advantages a reality. :)

1. A lot of stuff currently being ported from 1.76 to 4.05 for general public.

2. It's a lot easier to get PS4s with 4.05 and below than 1.76 and also cheaper (btw PS4 Slim 500Gb bundles were discontinued, so it's your best bet to get a new one, unless you want to save some money by looting pawnshops where you can check the firmware right at the counter before you make purchases. Original ps4s going for $120-170, slim maybe $170-200)

Don't count on Pro, a friend of mine recently picked up the new one made in July 2017, and it had 4.70 on it, so your best bet is to buy new models made before November 2016 ish

3. A lot of private stuff were past 4.50 already, which aren't going to be released for a while until almost every bug,0day and exploit gets patched, (don't hold your breath just yet)

Finally, There are still a lot of good games up coming until the end of 2018, and we all hope that we could get our hands on the latest firmware that can play those games while still modding the system.

So therefore, if you aren't having some financial crisis, go get a spare unit for the future release.

I myself have a unit with 3.55 and two with 5.00 for now

this is not true. got 2 500 slims with fifa 18, both came with firmware 4.72

Sorry for the misinformation, however I wouldn't buy any bundle console that would come with numbering "18"

I totally agree with you man :) If there will be a CFW I will get a PS4. I know where to find it second hand and possibly with the right firmware in it :P

I am waiting for it for so long :) I really hope this time it will be true ! I would immediately work on porting PS3 Games Manager to the PS4 :)
