Yo guys to the history will be long so get some popcorn. So let's start : I got a ps3 fat (cech-g) on cfw 4.84.2 rebug and I tried to upgrade the hard drive cuz i only got 40gb. so i replaced it, turned on the ps3 and everything was working well, but some guy tells me to reinstall the cfw, so i reinstall the same rebug and then, the console copies it from my usb key and installs it, when it is installing it, it blocks around 95% and i got a message that tells to reboot the console and try again cuz something went wrong and now im stuck cuz it's bootlooping.

Some guy lied to you - CECHG is still NAND based so no need to reinstall the firmware after replacing the HDD. On NOR models (anything later than CECHG) you will know that you need to reinstall it because it will ask you to and won't boot without it.

Wish I could give you good news but unfortunately one of the downsides of NAND based consoles is that since the entire firmware is stored on the flash it means that errors that would lead to soft bricks on NOR consoles (by soft brick I mean that they can be fixed by reformatting the hard drive) are hard bricks on NAND.

If you haven't tried recovery mode yet then that's your best bet. If recovery mode works just reinstall the firmware again.
If it doesn't even boot in recovery mode then unbricking would require a hardware flasher and a proper backup image (e.g., the one you take with bgtoolset). If recovery mode doesn't work and you haven't kept a backup of the NAND then AFAIK it's unrecoverable (but maybe someone will correct me).
Fortunately the CECHG is not a BC model so it's not very valuable anyway. You can get a 21xx slim for ~$100 and they're a lot more reliable, less prone to overheating and still compatible with CFW.

I don't have any backups and i don't have any e3 flashers so i think i will just buy another ps3 but like that old guy says, everytime you fail, you learn something new, thanks guys

I love how he completely disregards to explain whether or not he attempted to use recovery mode and just moves on to buying another PS3 so that he can potentially ruin that one as well not minding what he's doing

No the lesson here is why waste money if it could still be fixable... Not all bricks require a hardware flasher, such as soft brick which can be undone by booting recovery mode and choosing to restore file system

If it was hard-brick, you would probably not even be able to attempt to re-install a CFW over another... But whatever, its your money to throw into that dismal abyss of complete waste.

YOU KNOW, recovery mode??? That thing where you hold the PS3 power button until it double-beeps and shuts back off? And then you hold once more until it double-beeps again or maybe triple-beep and your PS3 should then enter recovery mode?

Or just keep living under that rock of yours :topsy turvy:

I have had the same PS3 on CFW for 5 years, I had REBUG D-REX 4.84.2 just like you and I have soft-bricked like 75 times but I have never achieved a hard-brick... so if you managed to get one then you really screwed up and weren't paying much attention at all and it makes me wonder if you should even be trying to do console mods.

EXAMPLES OF WHAT CAN CAUSE SOFT-BRICK

1. Use of incompatible mods and features (like using CFW ONLY/HFW ONLY on opposites)
2. Installing bad XMB waves aka "lines.qrc"
3. Installing a build of OtherOS (like Red Ribbon Linux) incorrectly.
4. In more rare case, an occasional random crash when your PS3 is busy with files

All of those can cause crash/soft-brick/boot-loop and are all fixable via recovery mode

If you were hard-brick, your PS3 would probably send AV/HDMI signal to TV but your screen would still be blank and you would have no audio... Because every time I ever saw the console ask me to re-install firmware from USB I just ignore it and do recovery mode + fresh install of same CFW from USB instead, in recovery mode, where it should be done... Not the prompt that is given to you immediately when you turn the PS3 on.
