PS3 Recently bought a CFW PS3

Hi everyone.
I recently bought a CFW ps3 slim cech-2500A.
The seller doesn't really know the technicality of CFW things.
when i asked him what type of CFW is this, he can only answer that this is a multiMan CFW. <- AFAIK, multiMan is not a CFW type right? or am i wrong?

if i open system information in ps3 xmb menu. it shows me that the system software is Version 4.82
there's an mmCM below the Game menu in XMB which i can access and when i open system information there, it shows me:
mmCM version: 04.81.02
PS3 system: firmware 4.75 [SC-35 | PL3]
Firmware Mode: COBRA 7.53 compatible

my question is, how do i know which CFW installed? and I want to change/update to the latest CFW Rebug, can you guys kindly help me with this.

Yeah, you are right, multiman is not CFW. Its an app.

You are on 4.82 CFW most likely, Multiman has not been updated to 4.82.00 version, so it is detecting FW as 4.75, that is normal.

You can update to Rebug 4.82 REX from the XMB system update icon, just put the PUP on FAT32 USB drive like this usb:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

You can get it here:

Scroll to bottom for download links, you want REX, not D-REX.

After that you will need to update multiman too or get another up to date backup manager.

thank you for answering, especially this fast, i really appreciate it
so even without knowing which cfw i'm currently on, it is safe to just update my ps3 using the newest REX pup from the rebug team?
i don't need to downgrade, uninstall something or anything else first?

Nothing else to do, Just update, the only way you might have an issue is if you were on DEX (or D-REX) now, which is unlikely, worst case it just wont let you install REX and you would need to install D-REX.

I have this same firmware and when I load up any rebug rex I get the data corrupted message. Any help please?
