MultiMan and Webman mod are personally the best but other homebrew are optional.
Also install the PS2 Placeholder before you play PS2 games.

I was wondering because my games won't launch, just returns to XMB if it means anything I have the PS3 4K Pro mod.

If you have HEN it only supports encrypted ISO in .BIN.ENC format and HEN enabled.

If you have CFW, Cobra must be enabled. The ISO must be copied to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO and it should be a proper ISO image.

Many ps2 games are playable only if you provide the CONFIG file with the fixes.

webMAN MOD sets the CONFIG file automatically.

The wiki says this about that error:
"An error occurred during the install operation." Package install error - Unsupported format - Filename exceeds 512 bytes

If the filename of the PKG is too long, rename it to a shorter file name.
