Ultimate Toolbox

PS3 [RELEASE] ★ Ultimate Toolbox v2.03 - It Only Does Everything! v2.03 (FW 4.84 - 4.91)

Couple random of things I have learned about PS3 in the last few days. It can stream a video from a https source with an invalid SSL cert, but it can not download from the very same source, gives the 80710a06 error for downloads but not video streams. Kind of interesting.

Also the PS3 media p[layer can not play 60FPS videos properly when the stream is initiated via the web browser, it does try to play them, but it stutters, switching between playing and buffering more than once per second. even with plenty of bandwidth available. The same 60FPS video does play fine from the HDD.

Something else interesting.

If we have a direct URL to an MP4 in an xml, an we use webrender_plugin for the module it downloads the MP4.
If we have a direct URL to an MP4 in an xml, and you use webbrowser_plugin for the module it renders the MP4.

Seems like the webrender plugin should do the rendering but it's the opposite. Thanks Sony! :)

@DeViL303 was just wondering if the download_plugin that is used in this is the same as the extended version you made?
The download plugin this installs by default during initial install is just the one from Rebug 4.86.1 Lite. I added this so users of 4.87 Evilnat would not have an issues as there seems to be a patch missing from that CFW, the missing patch allows the net_package_install method to work which will be for used for updates and more.

The download plugin available to toggle inside Firmware Settings is the extended plugin.

Ok that makes sence.
I noticed when running Evilnats CFW the ps3 threw up errors when trying to download from a http source in an XML.
So pardon me for seeming a little dumb on this but... The download_plugin you have added in the ultimate would over ride the one in you extender?

Yes I had not thought of that scenario. If you already had the extended plugin installed, After initially installing the toolbox you would need to toggle extended download plugin on again.

Ive recently been messing with trying to learn more about IDA and what I'm about to suggest is way above my knowledge BUT... Would it not be possible to combine the 2 download_plugins to create one version that you could use in the ultimate toolbox.
That way you could install the extender and the "patch" in one hit.

And if that would work, technically you could add the download extender files into a PUP file and create a firmware that has your extender built in.

Yeah, The option to toggle the extended download plugin is all that is meant to be there. The only reason the extra plugin was included was as a last minute workaround for fixing the download plugin in evilnat CFW. That 2nd plugin should not be there really.

It is possible to include almost all my mods directly into the CFW PUP if there is space, it is up to CFW creators to deicde what they think is worth including. If people request features like extended download plugin out of the box some CFW creators might include it. That particular mod would be very easy to include, its just a modded download_plugin.sprx, a modded download_list.xml and a couple of icons.

v1.02 will no longer install the plugin by default, users on Evilnat CFW will need to install the extended plugin manually to fix the issue instead.

Understood.
So in summary.. If Evilnat took the downloader extender download_plugin and used that in his CFW, along with the xml and icons it would fix the patch and include your extender and there would be no need for the plugin that's inside this ultimate toolbox.
Sorry for all the questions! Think what you you guys have done is amazing and just admiring the workmanship and what else would be possible.

Correct. There would be no need for the plugin in this toolbox if he included the extended download plugin.

Here is Ultimate Toolbox v1.02:

Many new features and changes so I recommend users remove the old version fully first to make for a cleaner install. If you do not remove it fully first you will not have any issues, it's just you will end up with some extra unused files on HDD.

To remove the old version go to Ultimate Toolbox Setup > Move to Reinstall Ultimate Plugin > Press Triangle > Delete. Then Reboot!

Ultimate Toolbox v1.02 Changelog:
  • Toolbox is now modular with a 30MB BASE version being the standard download.
  • On the BASE version, Optional extras like Coldboot Logos, Coldboot sounds, Fonts, themes, PS2 emulators , wallpapers and visualizations are now all available for download from inside their respective menus, or from within the new Module Manager in Toolbox Setup.
  • Users can install the FULL version if they want all modules available after install without any extra downloads required.
  • The BASE version can be upgraded to be exactly the same as the FULL version by downloading all modules.
  • The FULL version can be downgraded to be exactly the same as the BASE version by removing all modules.
  • Added options to toggle xmb_plugin for showing IP info on the XMB.
  • New screensaver options with ability to download OR stream 10 screensaver videos with or without audio
  • Small change to File Explorer so it shows dev_hdd0 and dev_hdd1 as separate entries.
  • Power options toggler now has "reboot options" as requested by @aldostools
  • Added force canyon presets menu with 60 options
  • Added force wave presets menu with 33 options
  • Added PS2 Netemu toggler with 8 options. (Thanks to @kozarovv for those files)
  • Added XMB icons style toggler with 12 options (icons.qrc)
  • Now over 100 fonts available in font installer, 80 new ones added since v1.01
  • Now over 380 coldboot logos available in the logo installer, 350 new ones added since v1.01 (thanks to @LuanTeles for those files)
  • Now over 80 Gaia visualizations available, 50 new ones added since v1.01
  • Added Impose mod (DECR 0.90 ps3 image) toggler
  • All icons optimized. All the visualization mods now using jpg icons @ 240x240. There was some 486x405 pngs left in here taken from ps3EXTRA ISOs. Shaved a few MB off.
  • All mods names standardized to make things more consistent, Now named 1.*** to xx.*** with matching icons named 1.jpg to xx.jpg (lines/earth/canyon/icons/fonts/ac3s)
  • Bugs from 1.01 fixed , missing amiga boot sound icon, ofw coldboot swapped with rebug.
  • Added an Dedicated Uninstall option to Toolbox Setup that removes Ultimate Toolbox.
  • From now on, You can use the update feature to reinstall the Toolbox if required, the update item will always be linked to the Latest BASE pkg.
  • Experimental new feature for devs that allows them to swap between debug and standard Cobra payload, the user must provide the payloads on flash. This feature is not for noobs and is experimental. Use at your own risk!

Note: There have been a lot of changes here so there might be bugs, as usual use this toolbox at your own risk! Hopefully I have not introduced too many new bugs. If you find any typos on descriptions, options that do not work as expected let me know. Thank you.

I might get around to enabling the package downloader as an ultimate toolbox module next time around. I am kinda hesitant to include it again as it always needs updating when new FW comes out, the way it is now the toolbox should work on any CFW from the last few years and probably will work on all future CFW as Sony seem to have stopped changing anything important.

Incredibly Awesome !! I'm extremely happy with this toolbox. :encouragement:

This is my feedback about this fantastic release:
1- Game Sorting Methods > Sort Games By Name seems that is not working. The games still appear sorted by time.
2- Some features require Reload, while others require a Reboot. It would be nice if a second popup is shown telling the user what to do. If you can use custom icons in the popup, make the notification would be more visual.
3- The new Impose Mod looks great. However it freezes XMB when you try to exit from the music player.
4- It would be nice if in Firmware Settings > Toggle Power Options you include the category_user.xml that I attached (Shut Down + Reboot Options).

This is not important, but could you include a PS4 and PS5 coldboot logo?

1: Ok, I will have a look at that. You do need to still choose time as the sorting method in the side menu, and it is possible they are sorted Z to A by default, so try change the direction of the time sorting.
2- Some features require Reload, while others require a Reboot. It would be nice if a second popup is shown telling the user what to do. If you can use custom icons in the popup, make the notification would be more visual.
2. Yes, I have tried to add either "XMB Refresh Required" or "Reboot Required" to confirmation dialogue where it applies, but there might be a better way to do it so it's more clear.
3- The new Impose Mod looks great. However it freezes XMB when you try to exit from the music player.
3. Oh, it seems fine here. How are you triggering the freeze exactly? I can hold the PS button here while in the music player without any issues. But I might be misunderstanding you on what's triggering the freeze.
4- It would be nice if in Firmware Settings > Toggle Power Options you include the category_user.xml that I attached (Shut Down + Reboot Options).
4. I did add a new option there for you. It's called "Add Reboot Options". It's not exactly the same as your xml as I added confirmation dialogues with warnings to the advanced reboot options. But it should do what you wanted. Power off with no confirmation on the top level, with reboot options under that also on the top level. Let me know if you wanted something different.

This is not important, but could you include a PS4 and PS5 coldboot logo?
Sure, Will add them in the next update..

@DeViL303 i can provide you categorized coldboots.
I added a couple more (425) and categorized them by type.

Also i can send you the PS4 and PS5 Coldboots, system sounds, buttons styles, ps5 background qrc and notification animation.

About the

aldo question

you can make a button to apply the customizations, instead of telling the user to restart or reload, just add the icon in the customization category called "APPLY CHANGES" or something like this, that restarts the console or reload the xmb
.
I'm using this in newer versions of my mod and it seems to be more practical for users.

Cheers, Sounds good. sure I will take a look when you release. I am in no rush to put out another update for a while unless there is some major issue discovered.. Sick of the sight of XMBML now for a bit. :)

BTW I took your icons.qrcs, but I repacked them all so that the modded preset is forced always.
This stops the icons from changing after the XMB appears. It was annoying me when I had them set to black and they would show up white for the first few seconds.

Give me 5 or 6 days, i'll have a new version and i will send it to you, actually i was planing to send it to you last year, to see things that i can improve on it ( since the last public release, i made huge changes, so i need the xml master =P )

Oh great, i'll check the icons.qrcs, yeap the icons changing annoyed me too, but i never went too far messing with them.
