Replacement fan for CECH-2501B

Hi everybody. My PS3 is so blasted loud because of the fan noise, so I want to try replacing it to see if that helps. Which fan available on Amazon is the best one to get for that model PS3?

The fans speed up when your system gets hot to prevent it from overheating. Your problem isn't your fans, it's the paste between the heat spreader and the heatsink. It probably will also be the TIM between the IHS and the Chip, as well.
 
Hi psykosis. It even sounds way loud like right as it starts up, would it be overheating and kicking the fan high at that point too?
 
if the loud noise you talk about is a high pitched whine like a jet engine like this

is perfectly normal in the sense that youre fan isnt broken. and unless you have it set manually that high i would say that yes your ps3 maybe be over-heating

I haven't done any hacks or anything to my PS3, just a regular one like off the shelf. Fan isn't that high, that almost sounds like when you do that special fan thing to really blow the dust out. I was wondering if since it's obviously old if the fan itself needs to be replaced or do you lube them or something? It almost more reminds me of you know how when your computer gets super old and the fan wears out how it is constantly loud, like that.

it could be that your ps3 is kicking the fan speed up to prevent overheating. cant say for sure unless you post a video. but am still inclined at saying your ps3 is just getting hot

Your PS3 needs, at least, a thermal compound change. You're gonna waste your money with another fan, that isn't the issue, the problem is in the CELL processor. If you can't lower the noise after the change, maybe you need a delid. I recommend you MX4, cheap and good.

Another good thing you could do is install HEN, easier than CFW, and see via webman how those temps are.
 
So what would you recommend I buy to try to quiet this down? It's really my only source of entertainment these days but its so loud. Not afraid to take it apart and carefully follow instructions, just don't want to buy the wrong things off Amazon today.
 
Thanks there's real good pictures on that link. Now I just need to figure out what to buy off Amazon to try to quiet this thing down
