PS3 REPOST: PS3HEN never working.

Okay, this might seem annoying, but when I use my ps3 with PS3HEN (Followed MrMario2011's guide) hen never enables, on the off chance it does enable its either webMAN mod or package manager (not both) and homebrew effectively does not work. I tried swapping out the hdd but it still is buggy. Along with this, Console model is Super Slim (4002A), FW is 4.92, HEN Version is 3.4.0, I installed Hen a while ago, uninstalled it and it became bugged, I already explained what happens if it does activate but sometimes it freezes.

If the hard disk swap doesn't fix it could it be you installed HEN to the eMMC? If so unplugging the hard drive and doing a console reset from safe mode should get rid of it (do make backups of anything important, it will get wiped).

Sounds like a failing hard drive, honestly. Was the hard drive swapped a new one?

There are no known bugs with HEN currently. You can update to latest 3.4.2 and see what happens, but I think it's a hard drive issue, or possibly other hardware (ram, GPU, etc)

You can try a clean refresh (format and wipe) then try again.

Does the installer html page (auto hen installer) work fine for enabling?

Actually, one thing I just thought of.

Do you have sticky buttons on controller? It's possible that the R2 is stuck and if so HEN will disable plugins. If L2 is stuck, it will disable mappath.

It could be the eMMC flash. However I have never used the eMMC flash for hen. I would know that it isn't the hard drive as I've swapped it out to no avail. Also I do not have sticky shoulder buttons.
But was the hard drive new or used? Tested?

Could be eMMC, I suppose. No good way to easily test.

It has to be a specific problem to your machine, since no others have reported problems and that release has been out for almost a year.

Is your clock correct? Although I'm pretty sure that doesn't affect enabling HEN, but I'm not 100% sure. Would have to test that.

Edit: Also I assume the html installer page works fine, since you didn't respond to that.

Edit2: Can you try removing hard drive and setting up with eMMC only and see if that makes any difference enabling HEN?

Oh yeah forgot... It don't work :(

The hard drive worked about 10 years ago, and I didn't use it again for 10 because I upgraded the storage on my PS3.

It's correct.

I think I'll just use hen 3.4.2

Ahh. What one mind you?

seems like its this

2030 (Thermal Sensor, CELL)

  • Components Involved:
    • CELL
    • CELL Temperature Monitor (IC1101 on COK-001)
Thermal Monitor (IC1101) external sense line. Check C1103, R1006/7 & replace IC1101 before reballing CPU. If all else fails the CPU's thermal diode is dead. Was seen in a PS3 that was destroyed by a heatgun. Also had A0A02031/2033 & A0902031.
Speculation: 2030-33 errors reported in case of dodgy PWR/EJT daughter board.

I would at least try new thermal paste first and see what happens, but definitely a hardware issue.

well damn. ive got thermal paste somewhere though

Just replaced thermal paste. Unfortunately enabling HEN still does not work. I'll try updating HEN and see if that'll work
