RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

Night Warriors - darkstalkers' revenge still works event with borders, but i noticed that load a new configuration file from main menu->configuration files hangs the PS3 bacause Retroarch tires to recreate RSX environment without a previuos rsx memory release causing
Code:
E SYS: 'sys_rsx_memory_allocate' failed with 0x80010004 : CELL_ENOMEM [1]

Hope it helps to solve it.
Could be the same problem with sfiii3 and garou

a standalone arcade build can solve it?
Maybe that's what happened to KOF97 as well.

@Crystal If you mean less drivers in FBNEO, maybe you could remove all drivers that aren't arcade, I mean, remove consoles like Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, NES and other consoles. In Retroarch we have better console cores anyway.

Hello guys and happy new year!!!
There is a little update:
On your Retroarch PSX CE edition modity Retroarch.cfg:
Code:
core_updater_buildbot_cores_url = "http://retropsxce.000webhostapp.com/"
change to:
Code:
core_updater_buildbot_cores_url = "http://cristaldi.github.unict.it/"
save it again on PS3
Download and unzip this fbneo core updated: link then put it into cores folder overwritting old one.
Start Retroarch PSX CE and open new FBNeo core. Now it (FBNeo core) will show you new update repository.

Retroarch 1.9.14

Cores updated could be downloaded manually here: https://github.com/crystalct/crystalct.github.io

Hopefully no issues with this worked okay in my quick test.
Made a small update pkg, with an edited RetroArch.cfg and the updated Neo Core.

Only issue i see is if you have a custom retroarch.cfg file, already but if you go that route i typically advise to make it a different filename and load that custom CFG from the UI. so you never accidentally overwrite it. but that would be only thing to look out for but for a new install you would not have that worry.

    Broken / Unneeded Options for PS3 port:
    via @sandungas
    im not sure if this options makes sense in a PS3 (all them in the ozone interface, not sure if exists also in other interfaces):
    • [Settings]--->[User Interface]--->[Touch Support]
    • [Settings]--->[User Interface]--->[Threaded Tasks]
    • [Settings]--->[User Interface]--->[UI Companion]
    • [Settings]--->[User Interface]--->[Start UI Companion on Boot]
    • [Settings]--->[Power Management] Is empty
    • [Settings]--->[User Interface]--->[Apparence]--->[Use Preferred System Color Theme] In ozone interface, not working

    Other Issues
    • Thumbnail Updater (not currently working)
    • Soft-Patching Issue: SEE REPORT
    • Settings > Retroachievements > ON = controller not working anymore - only PS button works. When I try to exit RetroArch from there, it completely restarts PS3 (3 bips). -SEE REPORT
    Possible Core Bug
    • Atari800 - atari800.cfg has issue writing the Bios path to cfg file. (Priority Low)
      • Workaround is usually just deleting the cfg file in the "system" folder and the app will rewrite and correct the path (IF bios (5200.rom) is present in system folder also).
    • SNES9 2005 Plus and SNES9 2010 freeze any game after saving and loading from a save state. But SNES9 2005 works fine. (reported via this post)

I think we need to update the first post a bit and maybe make some news of this.
  1. Install the latest Full Pkg (Beta #3) > Download Link <
  2. Then, Install Update PKG: > Download Link <
    • Note: if you have had a previous Beta installed, this will overwrite your retrorch.cfg, backup retroarch.cfg if you do not want to lose your settings (new installation ignore note).
  3. (optional) Once you run RetroArch (PSX-CE) on your PS3 you can download Recently Updated & Future updated core's in the Online Updater, below are some recent cores updated
    • 2022-01-04 vice_x64_libretro_ps3.SELF.zip
    • 2022-01-07 fbneo_libretro_ps3.SELF.zip
    • 2022-01-07 genesis_plus_gx_libretro_ps3.SELF.zip
    • 2022-01-07 fceumm_libretro_ps3.SELF.zip

Actually Crystal updated at least 40 of 59 cores in 2021 after the release of the pkg beta 3 (released in Jan 2021).
These updates were available using the online updater of RetroArch.

I think we need a new full package.

I wouldnt mind but my upload speed is not the best.

I would like to see some of crystals additional ps3 dynaric examples have been utilized for ps3 so that others can see its growth and further make use.

This is an unofficial full package with the updates that I mentioned.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/rrkp...ity_Edition_unofficial_beta-20220108.pkg/file

I would prefer that you use an official release by Crystal.

Yea. before i do anything with first post or news,
i want Crystal to sign off on the packages (or create his own)

If updating the full release, we really would not need the update package
If the retroarch.cfg writes the correct path on first close of the app.
Which should be easy enough.
