RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

Hi everyone, I have just installed RetroArch on my OS3 but I find the audio to be kind of scratchy/noisy. Almost like an "exploded" speaker if I could compare. I have tried both analog and hdmi outputs, pal and ntsc roms but no difference.
I also have made few changes in latency and frame delay but same results.
Is it a common thing in the ps3 version of RA?
Which emu?

I'm trying to save the picodrive core options (picodrive.opt) but it gives me an error every time.
I tried deleting it, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem either.

You should check file crc, not filename.
Use a dat file and a rommanager to correct your romset.
The CRC is ec9d5eb2 after I ran it through an online scan with no changes to the files inside of the .zip and it's in the 7th beta now when I last downloaded it and that was a while ago. I don't use a rom manager as I just place the roms in the folders and test them on the system and see if they boot or have any issues which most games don't sans this one and a few others with FB Neo. The others in the past I tested either had sound issues or simply didn't boot so I didn't keep them on the drive. FB Neo I'd say is the best core to run my arcade games with no slowdown or anything and I'd estimate with my time spent with it to have a nearly 99% success rate with everything I've thrown at it. I'll update the neogeo.zip bios with the one provided by the downloads for the game itself as mine is out of date plus I use the latest uni-bios for all of my neogeo games so that can be moved to the updated bios.

The only game I wish I could play on it is the Super Street Fighter II Turbo New Legacy hack which won't run on it as it's a hack and those tend not to work well to begin with.

This hack is supported on newer pc builds only with the name Super Street Fighter II Turbo New Legacy v0.7.1 (Beta) (Hack by Born2SPD)

Are most rom hacks troublesome for the Ps3 version of RA? I guess it depends on the level of what was changed and such? I got a Super Mario World Rom hack "A Plumber for All Seasons" and 1-1 runs a bit slow, but playable. 1-2 runs at a normal frame rate, then 1-3 runs a bit slow. This is using the current SNES9x build...Do you suggest any changes that may be able to eek out a bit more performance?

This hack uses the SA-1 chip, so wondering if that would make a difference, as well??

Hi, I would ask if the latest CE version supports the nonlatin characters in rom name?
I use Chinese characters in rom name, but the rom cannot be loaded.
I used official release on PSV and WiiU platform and no this issue.

Hi @Ziko, maybe i can help you. Having the rom ssf2tnl.zip - v0.7.1 (06.09.2022) - simply rename the same to ssf2t.zip e launch with the core FB Alpha 2012. I suggest putting the modified rom in a separate place, so as not to confuse/overwrite the original version.

I got the solution for non-latin character named files and note here:
transfer non-latin character files via ftp tools with character encoding UTF8, then things are done.

Can someone provide a latest fbalpha_libretro_ps3.SELF(not fbalpha2012 or fbneo) build?
I found this core has been removed from beta4 and I know the official release also has removed this core since 1.11.0.
But I still want this core for certain use, can someone offer a latest build for ps3?

https://xbins.org/libretro/ - In this link you will find the older builds, both official and nightly. It certainly has the requested core.

Did you tried online updater?

This is because starting from a certain moment, fbalpha changes its name to fbneo....it is as if you wanted, for example, to use the vice core (or another core) of 4 years ago...a bit complicated.

Hi, crystal, appreciate for your work.
And I'm just curious of why there's no neocd core for ps3?
