RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

The retroarch team has dropped the PS3 version officially years ago, then came back, then stopped again. IIRC it's because nobody is maintaining it and the team isn't interested/able to debug on ps3

but ps1light continue? because the CE version is compiled with leaked sdk right?

considering the last update was almost 3 years ago and crystal hasn't been in here in months... no, i don't think this is being updated anymore

here https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/playstation/ the official buildbot (every day the nightly is compiled). PS3 version is not present.
The buildbots are the official project, the PS3 versions were never listed at that URL

The official ps3 version (& xbox) version was always on xbins (not libretro.com)
https://xbins.org/libretro/

then later decided after v1.9.0 by the official team they would drop support until OpenSDK ports were made on those console's.

no update about the "official" version?

There has been no official word from the libretro team, last i spoke to them (very long time ago) they were waiting for the community to produce the port and they would support it, but it had to be the community.

The bottleneck is psl1ght is not progressed enough to make a comparable port to the original.

Last major progress was @OsirisX

So the problem is that ps1light is not yet ready to compile a source like that? and use a linux minikernel instead? would that be possible? on ps3 there's no way to boot linux without messing around with partitions?

the xbins version is compiled with ps1light? who have try it? i see it and it's very old version... 2020. So crystal make the CE version as UPDATE?

Yeah sadly it seems dead, and Yeah the build bot doesn't seem to compile the psl1ight version but their GIT actions page does, i couldnt get it to run but it does compile a ELF, so if you have a github account you can access their daily psl1ght builds, I tried resigning it and i tried running it normally but i couldnt get it running. But good luck if you try.

Just wondering, is Ps1light version more efficient (faster) than normal version?

It's unlikely that PSL1GHT is more efficient or faster than the PS3 SDK. In general, PS3 SDK produce faster applications.
PSL1GHT is more limited, not all the PS3 SDK is implemented and there is differences in the syntax.

PSL1GHT is used in homebrews more due legal reasons than due performance.

after updating to latest webman retroarch wont start anymore..reboots back to main screen during loading..
im still on cfw 489

webMAN MOD [4.92]v1.47.48n07/12/25

any ideas? :(

thanks

Neither the webMAN MOD installer nor the updater touch the RETROARCH folder.

There is a salamander.cfg (I don't remember the exact name) that usually get corrupted. Use a File Manager to delete that file from /dev_hdd0/game/RETROARCH/USRDIR

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling RetroArch again.
If reinstalling still doesn't work, try a clean install by first removing RetroArch from the XMB.

Just wondering if the expanded rom size version of the Genesis_GX core that allows Paprium to be played is able to be compiled into a .SELF for use on Playstation 3 Retroarch? I have found the core for just about everything except PS3.

I also want that updated core badly, the other cores I don't care as I have all roms set-up (arts, names, etc) and I don't want to update any more arcade roms on PS3 as it is such a pain. Just the Expanded Genesis GX Core for Paprium.

Btw the source code is available here if someone have the skills.

Could you link it?
