RetroArch (PS3)

PS3 RetroArch (PS3) - Guide (2018 - WIP) __

So after some research i found out that the PS3 HAD openGL es 1.0 with cg for shaders, i assume they patched the api out on some point. Since beetle psx HW uses opengl that's a no go, to that leaves us with vulkan. I know that the ps3 emulator rpcs3 uses vulkan, but does the ps3 also use vulkan?

edit: nope found out it doesn't, too bad. The Switch seems to be the only to support Vulkan, out-of-the box even.

How to update Retroarch to 1.76?
I ask this because inside retroarch`s 1.75 folder all of my screenshots and covers are there.
If I update installing the PKG will it erase the retroarch folder and install a fresh one or it will just overwrite the executable and it's files?

Installing the package over 1.7.5 should be okay.I do not recall having any issues ever..

but if you wanted to be 100% sure not to lose them
Use FTP and navigation to the RetroArch folder >> /dev_hdd0/game/SSNES1000/
Copy those files or move the folder out of the installation folder of retroarch.
Then install the pkg.

Hmmm... that would not be a good idea, as there are a lot of files (all mame screenshots and game covers) it would take forever. =/
I think I will update and cross my fingers.

Guys, I tried to connect my PS3 to a CRT TV just to play old emus with the same good old feeling... The thing is, Retroarch XMB got all messed up, I couldn't read a thing. Is there a way to fix this? Can I change the UI theme to make it compatible?

You have to change the video output settings .
Which can be a pain using an old monitor and having a widescreen ratio.

On your normal (widescreen i presume) TV apply the appropriate aspect ratio then hook it up to old CRT. Can be done through the RetroArch.cfg file but hat has so many options there nowadays i would suggest that, but is a way it can be changed also.

It worked! There is no need to edit the cfg manually. It would be nicer if Retroarch detected that it's conected to two TVs (or one CRT) and it would ask which one you want to play or if on one TV, it would automatically adjust the settings for you.

I also tried to play Mame Retroarch with a PS Move as a Pistol and it doesn't work. The buttons are recognized but it doesn't work as a lightgun.

PS Move works on racing games when conected to PS Move Steering Wheel Accessory while on Retroarch. ( I tested on After Burner 2 which is not a racing game :P).

A DEV from libretro when asked about PS Move support, he said that it would be implemented someday becuase someone donated a PS Move kit to him.

The post below is from March 2013 :(

@STLcardsWS take a look at the PC Engine BIOS (Mednafen_PCE_fast) and fix the MD5 or add a footnote about it.

Read this and you will understand.

Also maybe it would be cool to add recommended paths for ROMS in this guide. Following this as an example:

Is there any way to do that on Windows? I've tried both CMD and PowerShell to no avail. I don't have a Linux OS. Thanks.

Open the file in an hex editor(hxd for example), Set view to "Dec". Select first 512 bytes and delete them. Save the file.
