RSoD Fat Ps3 Model CECHPO1 OFW 4.87

Hello Everyone, like the title states I bought a fat ps3 model and it came with the RSoD. I tried looking for solutions on the net and I'm still running into this issue. I opened it but and cleaned it as well as reapplying thermal paste. I also updated the firmware to the latest OFW .I've heard that if this problem still arises then I might need a E3 Nor Flasher to resolve it. I was hoping that someone could help me with this problem before I decide to buy the flasher since that's a whole new solution that I need to do more research on.

As you are on 4.87 and the console is still booting up onto the XMB you do not really need a hardware flasher, you can now use BG Toolset from the web browser to patch it for CFW instead. Then you can install any CFW that has the RSOD bypass patch included. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

It does not boot to the XMB. It will show the RSoD. I updated the firmware through the safe mode option and applied the update through a thumb drive.
 
I see, I thought it might have been intermittent. If you can not get onto the XMB then a hardware flasher is your only option.

That sucks. I suspected as much. Since I'm determined to try and fix this problem I guess that I'll buy one. Is the s trustworthy place to get one and are some better than others? Where can I find a tutorial on how to use one?
 
Your console is NOR, so those are easier to work with really when it comes to HW flashers. I got my E3 flasher on aliexpress. It is probably a fake but worked ok.

Here are some old videos showing the basic steps to using an E3 flasher. The software he links to is out of date now, but it will give you an idea of what you need to do. Also It's for a slim but the process is similar as they are NOR too.


I do not have a link to a good text tutorial now but I recommend doing a good bit of research before you start it.

Thank you for the help DeViL. I also found the ps3 mod reddit with information on it as well. I found a seller on Ebay who is selling the flasher so I'll take a chance with that. I'll order the E3 flasher and get back to this thread when I start the process to downgrade the PS3...I'll return the flasher is sent to my house...To be continued
 
I am back with some good news! The E3 flasher worked and I was successfully able to downgrade the Ps3 firmware and the RSoD is gone. My only problem now is that I cannot seem to upgrade the firm ware at all. I constantly get the corrupted error message when I try to update the Rogero 4.55 CFW to Rebug.
