I got a gen1 ps4 and the client said the thing is dead,So i poened up and roaches killed the power supply,I cleaned the machine and noticed the fusable resister on the power supply had massive ohms reading,So for a quick test i took a ps3 slims power supply and wired it up to the ps4.
Now the ps4 went on and working fine but when i start a game to test it switched off after 4 minutes in the game,no beeps just turns off.....I then wait a few minutes and the power supply kicks on again .In the xmb all is ok but as soon as there is a load with intense gameplay it dies.
What i want to know is is this due to the heat produced from the ps3 power supply cause there aint no cooling of a fan, or is there another problem.
I dont know who or where to ask about this,Should the ps3 power supply keep up with the ps4 demands,i am not sure if it must run a 30 amp supply.
I do not have a power supply yet as i am waiting for stock but at least the ps4 is on.
