SACD Ripper PS3 (4.92 CEX support)

PS3 sacd-ripper for 4.92 CEX 0.39.1

I know SACD is pretty much a dead format at this point and not many people own a working BC phat PS3 anymore but for people who are interested, I modified a sacd-ripper fork I found online so that it supports the latest firmware. Standalone mode works on my end (CECHA Evilnat 4.92.2) but I haven't tried the server mode yet. Technically it should also work on 4.91 I'm not sure.

One little issue I have found out is that in standalone mode, sometimes it seems to freeze when you choose OK after the disc was detected.

The program is not actually dead at this point and if you access the webman MOD page on other devices you can see that the file is actually growing. At this point you should keep refreshing the webman page to check the file size, and you can turn the console off when the file stops growing.

This works for me on Evilnat 4.92 CEX (CECHA model) in standalone mode ripping to USB.

I see the same behavior where the screen freezes after pressing OK and no progress graphs appear. The ISO still rips correctly in the background.

Would it be possible in a future version to:
  • Restore the progress display in standalone mode, or
  • Show some indication that ripping is still active?
Standalone USB mode is very useful for people who don't want to use server mode.

Thanks again for updating sacd-ripper for 4.92 — it got my PS3 ripping for the first time.

Unfortunately I'm not going to actively maintain it. I didn't really touch the code around the ripping process and I am not pretending that I knew how any of the code work.

Also did you just use AI to write the reply lol

Please add suport for 4.82 and up, not just 4.91/2

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense.

No worries about maintenance. It's working well for me on 4.92 in standalone mode, even if the progress display freezes. I really appreciate you updating it so we can still rip on newer firmware

I've been struggling with this for about 2 months. I have some important SACDs and until now I could only rip the CD layer on dual-layer discs. Some single-layer SACDs wouldn't unlock at all.

When the GUI freezes, I just let it run ~40 minutes and then exit the ripper. So far, it has completed the ISO correctly each time.

And no AI, just being thorough .

Glad it worked out for you. Really sorry about the freeze though. I'm still very new in PS3 programming and I have no idea where that came from.

To see the progress, you can install webman MOD and connect your PS3 to your local network. You can see the webman page and use the file manager by typing the IP address of your PS3 into a browser from another computer. Then you access dev_usb000 (or it might be some other digits) and you can see the size of the SACD ISO. Keep refreshing until the size stops growing. That's what I did.
