Safe, easily extractable, non-install download of PS3 Tools?

MackNNations

Forum Noob
I'm trying to find a safe download of Aldo's PS3 Tools Collection. The PS3 Resource section here links to a scary exe installer that has uTorrent and a bunch of adware/spyware ad-ons bundled with it.
I'm extremely leery of installer-type tool packages.

Is there a reason why the PS3 Tools are hard to obtain? I can't even download them from Aldo's site. He seems to be a talented and prolific programmer. Can anyone shed some light on why the tools aren't easily available?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

pinky,
That filename looks the same as the scary installer download from the forum resource links and when I try to follow your link, MediaFire says :
"Dangerous File Blocked

The file you attempted to download was determined to be dangerous. For your protection, MediaFire does not enable distribution of dangerous files.
Still have questions, or think we've made a mistake? Please contact support for further assistance."

As I stated, I'm looking for a non-install (zip or rar archive) of the PS3 Tools. I just wanted to download the collection of tools without adware/spyware/malware bundled in some unknown installer.

There is only 1 installer available, There is no malware/spyware included (or utorrent). Its a false positive due to the way some of the tools modify files. Take it or leave it basically

DeViL303,
Thanks for the reply.

Can you verify something for me, then? When I go to the PS3 Resources section here, I select PS3 Tools Collection --> Download Now and I get a text file called "Download Link_Mirrors.txt" with a URL in it.
I can't post the URL here but it is for a site called mirrorcreators *dot* com *slash* files *slash* JU59F9IM
The download there is called "install_ps3tools_4_8_1_1.exe" When I run it, it installs uTorrent and a bunch of other crap, but
no PS3 tools.

What's the deal? Why the dodgy downloads?

the problem must be on your end. I uploaded that .exe a while back. I just got a new laptop to replace a faulty one, so it's barebones until I get an ssd. ;) anyway, I just tried the download. it worked without issue. you'll know if the file is correct by the blue box icon. don't try to install anything that doesn't look like that.

pinky,
Thanks for checking. Does that download site sound right? Mirrorcreators *dot* com ?
I've scanned my system for malware. Nothing found. Maybe my router's DNS has been hijacked?

You must be clicking the wrong download link or something, I just tried it and got PS3 tools and no other crap. I went to that site, clicked "click here to view the download links" and then selected the top link , zippyshare.

Thanks for your help, guys.

I had the right download link and went to zippyfiles. Something was causing me to get a malware file. I can't figure out how. I've scanned my system multiple times - nothing shows up as malware. I wonder if my router was hijacked. I rebooted it and tried again.
I still got the Dangerous file message when I tried to download from MediaFire, but I found a work around by creating a MediaFire account and copying the file to My Files. Then the download works.

Thanks again.
