PS2 Severe Rendering Issues with SMB and GSM

I've tried playing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance through SMB since my disc drive can't read games anymore and, unfortunately, I have encountered severe rendering issues while playing it where it literally can't keep up with me moving from one room to the next, like there isn't enough VRAM to store the assets.

I'm also using GSM with an HDMI adapter for my PS2, specifically the HDTV 1080i 60Hz setting.

Attached is video evidence:

Sorry for the bad video quality but I think the problem is apparent nonetheless

Did you use some kind of patch as a panoramic screen? Some games tend to have problems of this type with these patches.
Also try disabling GSM.

Apparently I did more testing and GSM seems to be the problem, more specifically the HDTV 1080i setting I was using.
And no, the game isn't patched, it's a personal dump from the disc copy I own.

Unfortunately this mean the game kinda looks like doo-doo on my 1080p HD monitor, is there no way to prevent this from happening?
No other GSM setting seems to cause the issue, although they all look terrible, so that's a no-go.

Drawing functions in Snowblind Engine games (like a Dark Alliance) are tied to the VBLANK signal. You are forcing the 60 Hz video mode over the 50 Hz one, making the game run faster than programmed.

Oh, is that so? That's very interesting to know, albeit I don't really think there's much that I can do about it
