So ive got this fat 30k D chassis v4 console made in 2nd quarter 2001 that ive owned since 2018, and its got a ZSSR093MA psu which is in complete working order
but on the last maintenance i did on it i saw that the pcb on the underside is discolored due to heat close to or in the transistor area, its currently got a IDE HDD and sometimes i can play games of it 4-6 hours, i remember years ago for a couple of days i played sims 2 off the hdd in sessions varying from 6 to 10 hours (so the hdd got heavy usage, not to mention i dont think ide hdd were very power efficient)
so for now ive been avoiding using the hdd until i can come to a conclusion if i should do something about it or not, i would like to avoid de-soldering it and re-soldering it to apply the paste, but at the same time, unscrewing it and bending it forward might break its legs off so i dont know what to do
thats not even mentioning that i believe the ps2 uses unleaded solder and i only got leaded and idk if its bad to mix the two types on the same pcb
any ideas ?
