Title. I just got a used slim and it freezes every 3 seconds (audio too), especially at game cutscenes and multiman xmb when choosing a game. I'm on latest rebug cfw. Before cfw it was ok but i didn't have any games installed. My harddisk is not full or close to being full

any suggestions?

Check you have not got duplicate plugins running, for example built in webman and webman in boot_plugins.txt., or 2 VSH menus etc

It could be the hdd @vullurian
You can enter recovery menu and use the option "restore filesystem", it should be completed successfully in less than 5 minutes (and doesnt deletes any important file)
If it takes more than 5 minutes or shows errors then you have a problem in hdd

done it a few times /w rebuild database and it takes like 20 sec for me. The first time i did the system became really smooth really smooth for a day but then the freeze came back. Should i change the hdd?

Hmmm, ok, what i mentioned is mostly an initial test
For you is completed very fast, this looks like a good signal

But now you are giving more details... what you just said that the first time you did it was working very smooth... it makes me think that the problem is really in the hdd
In the video it looks like the data (from the hdd) is having some bottleneck... that bottleneck seems to be from the hdd

Before replacing the hdd i would try to format it on pc... because maybe the problem is the filesystems (software), in that case a format in pc should fix it
But if you format it you are going to lost all contents... so before that i would try to replace it termporally by a different hdd... just to see if all works fine with it

Im reading again your message, the option i meant is "restore filesystem", the "rebuid database" is a different thing

And when you use "restore filesystem" it includes the "rebuild database"... is not mentioned in the info screens but this is a must... after the filesystem is rebuild it "updates" the xmb database automatically (without advising you)

Surely is the hdd. Just replace it ( I had the same issue once, and replacing it was the solution)
i was having issues with netflix (audio and video would go wrong) and video issue.

Can't i copy the stuff in hdd to pc and then move them back after i format? I dont have a spare hdd right now but if the format doesnt work i can get one. Whats the cheapest 200gb hdd that can fit in the console? does it have to be anything specific?

edit: oops i forgot to send the post. Yes i did the both options (restore and build).

I can either get a hdd if its cheap or sell this one and buy another used ps3 for 50 bucks from a games store

The hdd is encrypted, to manage contents on PC you need to have your EID_root_key (if i remember right), and use an app to access the encrypted partition, but that app is read only
You are in HAN i guess... so copying hdd contents is just half of the way... you dont have a way to copy the files back to the new/formatted hdd
And well... all this process becomes a bit complex

So better wait to find a replacement hdd to make a temporal test (from a laptop or whatever you find at home, heheh)
If it works, then unplug it and start looking at prices for a new hdd
The requirements is it needs to have 9.5 height max... sony has his preferences for low power comsumption (5.400rpm and only 1 plate) but this is not mandatory
And for the brand you can also follow sony preferences, see in this table, superslim hdd models are not listed but for the slims they was using toshiba MK series

*Edit:
Just noticed in the page in wiki appears a Hitachi travelstar series for the superslims... this one is good too, very low power/noise/heat, etc...
