PS3 sMAN 1.08n (by deank) - Adds new XMB Intergration Option, Improved ICON/SFO Scanning & more...

One of many legends in the PS3 Homebrew Community developer deank is back with a new progression of the sMAN plugin. We all know deank from projects like multiMAN, webMAN and now the sMAN plugin that has appeared to perhaps replaced (?) the original webMAN (aka webMAN Vanilla) project as now a new feature will allow you to choose between old style of "My Games" with the "XML" Mod, this option is off by default. As seen in the included pic in the release notes, the "XMB Intergration" can be toggled on/off easily in sMAN setup. The dev did not stop there with improving this PS3 Plugin in v1.08n additional details such as improved speed on scanning from external / internal hdd when extracting Game Icons / obtaining info from the PARAM.SFO can be seen with all details of this update

sman_xmb1.jpg

  • sMAN 1.08n is available:

    sMAN version 1.08n Changes:
    • Added [x] XMB Integration option in setup for people who like the older xmb/xml style (off by default)
    • Improved scan speed from ntfs/internal hdd when extracting icons/sfo
    • sMAN resources in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/res will not be overwritten if exist (at least until the next version)
    • Supports up to 2000 titles (even in XMB Integration mode)
    • Still uses the same amount of memory (~2300KB free while idle)

    Dean

    • Developer: @deank
    • Type of Release: A PS3 Plugin for use with Custom Firmware : Such as a COBRA CFW or other CFW types such as (STANDARD) with the ability to boot plugins via external applications ..
    • Short Description: the sMAN plugin takes deank original webMAN plugin and adds the new slaunch feature also developed by deank and merges them into a single plugin that also gives the ability with all the original webMAN features developed by deank.

  • History of Changes

    sMAN v1.07
    • It can be either 10 or 40 games per page. Both layouts can be switched with [R3].
    sMAN 1.06n
    • Some important parts of the plugin are rewritten and optimized to reduce stack usage
    • Returned another 112KB back to fg vsh :) (2316KB free - was 1920KB a month ago without ntfs :) so about 396KB less used)
    • Changed sman.bin to support longer game names/paths/icons - a rescan will be initiated
    • Cleaned some code (about 1000 lines gone after the optimization)
    • Loading games speed improved (at least the perceived speed)
    • sMAN will show the name of the loaded game as popup message (not the filename)
    • sMAN is now properly unloaded when requested (no zombie or dead threads should remain)
    • It supports up to 2000 titles (games/bd/dvd) now

    sMAN v1.05
    • Use [L2+R2] to start sMAN
    • The sprx is bigger (but actually uses less memory) because it contains some glued resources
    • It will use standard PS1/PS2/PSP/PS3/Blu-ray/DVD icons when there is no proper cover/image available
    • This version of the plugin must be named sman.sprx and loaded from (in this exact order):
      • /dev_hdd0/sman.sprx or
        /dev_hdd0/plugins/sman.sprx or
        /dev_flash/vsh/module/sman.sprx otherwise it won't work.

    sMAN v1.02

    • Changed netiso/rawseciso implementation (external) - use plugin slot #0
    • Fixed crash when trying to load another PS1 title after one is played

    sMAN v1.01
    • Added "Setup" option in side-menu
    • Removed xml generation - no need for custom category_game.xml anymore
    • Removed xai_plugin/idle_plugin usage
    • Added x2 upscale for small images/covers (w/h < 336)
    • Added indication of current group mode (PS3 1 / xxx) under title name/path
    • Removed "My Games" entry from XMB - hold [START] to launch sMAN

Honestly I don't know. I tested starting my PS3 without any network connection (no wifi and no cable/wired) and few minutes later I plugged in the Ethernet cable and FTP service worked, so it can't be sMAN issue.

With wi fi works well with the latest updated version [emoji6]

sman working great for me but are you willing change to say my games or sMAN Games and remove version number from bottom? and add Load games with sMAN this not really important but will look better on xmb and the icon to original web man icon looks kind of out of place not telling you should change it but looks better IMO.Wish I knew how use source code to do this.

Using less English messages/titles makes it universal and most users don't need translation. If I change it then I'll get 50 requests to add "translation" options to sMAN. Currently the XMB integration contains only two english words (setup and eject) which is bearable for 99% of the users I guess.

I think sMAN looks fine the way it is and the version # under it is helpful

ok I understand I used how webman mod and webman look on xmb I guess everyone different version number not necessary since you can see version number in setup but that just me.

Some games don't seem to be working with sman. Demon Souls, european version in cobra iso format, just freezes while its trying to load but works fine with a game manager and webman mod. All my PS2 iso games just sit on a black screen with sman but again work fine with a game manager or webman mod. Im using the latest rebug firmware.

Is there easy way for noob to change background in sMan? I tried to replace sman.jpg with other background but nothing happens.
Also i would like to ask to add support for remote controller...as you said before, on blue button or somewhere
sMan is great, simple and easy load with beutiful GUI and feeling...you guys are Legends..greetings from Croatia

(issue "solved". Still one question at the bottom)

Tried sMAN today (1.11n). Looks good. Looks real good. Kinda like it, even though WebMan mod 1.47.05 works fine as well for me.

One question though, I run all my games over ps3netsrv. They are in folders GAMES and GAMEZ, two different HDs, shared with ps3netsrv:
# ./ps3netsrv64 /mnt/ps3/Share 38008 192.168.101.*
ps3netsrv build 20170310 (mod by aldostools)
Path: /mnt/ps3/Share

# ls /mnt/ps3/Share
GAMES GAMEZ

GAMES is one HD and GAMEZ is the other.

It only finds the games in GAMES it seems. I only see 657 games which are all in GAMES.
I do this so that I do not have to run ps3netsrv twice on different ports and as WebMan mod scans GAMES and GAMEZ, its not a problem with it.

Second problem, out of the 657 games it does find, only a small portion of them have an image, even though none of them are ISO games and all have a PS3_GAME\ICON0.PNG file

ps3netsrv is compiled from WebMan Mod 1.47.05 if that matters...

Edit: It seems to add one more picture every time I run "Rescan". (every "Connection from" is me clicking on rescan):
Code:
Waiting for client...
Connection from 192.168.101.242
open /GAMES/Blur [BLES00759]/PS3_GAME/ICON0.PNG
Connection from 192.168.101.242
open /GAMES/Dead Rising 2 [BLES00948]/PS3_GAME/ICON0.PNG
Connection from 192.168.101.242
open /GAMES/Conflict - Denied Ops [BLES00182]/PS3_GAME/ICON0.PNG

Edit2: I switched to an old ps3netsrv from deank (? 2013). Works fine now with the icon images AND it scans GAMEZ just fine again. Lessen learned I guess. Do not use ps3netsrv from Webman Mod for sMAN.
Which raises the question, which ps3netsrv do you recommend for sMAN?

Use the one available on deank's server...

That's what he used for sMan development & testing afaik. In fact, you are supposed to use this ps3netsrv with multiman too. Even though the modded version by aldostools usually works OK with mm, it was developed for wMM...

What version is sMAN on now??

There are 2 main threads about sMAN, The first one "sMAN (webMAN + sLaunch).." has the download link, but no version number. This thread says sMAN 1.08n, The download links say 1.08n.. but then in the comments they are saying 1.11n

Where can I download 1.11n, and is there anything newer than that version?

thanks

guys anyone have a problem with deleting games? when i delete games from ntfs hdd, sman cant update games list and shows deleted games too
only way to fix this, manually deleting game ntfs files from tmp folder :(

Hmm this shouldn't happen. Never messed with sMAN but there should be some "Scan" option in menu. Also after manual scan it still shows those games?

A manual refresh or possibly a reboot should fix this..
Test rebooting with "Content scan at boot" option enabled..
If it fails to work, I will try to reproduce the issue...
