PS2 SNESticle LBA Fixed

Of course I zip only 1 ROM to 1 Zip file. Unzipped ROM works on other emulators like Snes Station.

Kapi10, all i can suggest is trying either a different program to zip the roms or maybe try using a different compression level.

tktagmedia, I'm not sure if anyone has built the program from the source code, but I think it should be possible so if someone really wanted to they could potentially improve it. I don't think anyone has said anything publicly about working on it yet.

Has anyone examined the source code yet? Is it feasible to improve on what's there?
Devs always said that the main problem with snes station was the lack of source code. However now there is source code from SnesTicle. But apparently there is no interest at all from the community. No one talks about Snesticle on the scene not even on discord forums. The source code seems to be using some libraries that are not from PS2SDK (of course why would it use? ) . Some of it would have to be rewritten. But I don't think anyone have even attempt to compile to see how hard or how easy will be to get to the final binary. So, answering you question I just think there is no interesting at all.

yeah, just like an cps2 emulator for ps2, there is a "perfect" cps2 emu for psp but not for ps2... no interest i guess... booo

Of course. Because PSP homebrew scene is many orders of magnitude larger than PS2 dispute being the most sold console of all time

Hopefully we can eventually get loading ROMs from mass (USB) and also save data writing and loading.

I hate the fact that OPL's VMC does not work on this great emulator. I would prefer to write to USB instead as Sony does not make PS2 memory cards anymore and I only have one and I am trying to prolong it's life as much as possible.

But I know it has an issue with homebrew anyway. I would hazard a guess it has to do with hooking. It is somewhat similar
to GC homebrew.

it says "ERROR: cdfs:/ROMS/ *file name.zip*" when i try booting up a rom, someone knows how to fix? i'm using the pre-made .iso

I am sure others have noticed it too, but those who haven't it will not display ROMs if there are too many in one folder.

Does anyone know the limit?

The only way would be to add the feature to save to mc. But to do this the code must be modified and recompiled. I've given a look at the source code. The source I think looks different from the binary. The source looks to be in the middle of something else before the current binary. In other words, the version of the binary is not the same from the source. The source looks to be missing some things that should be there. Not to mention there are some files there that seems they need some Sony specific development tool to be compiled. Some things are easy like header files with different names, GS and EE registers, macros, and functions defined in different files from the ones on current sdk, etc. So, to sum up: to port this to current sdk major changes are needed. unfortunately, this is beyond my scope of knowledge. But I would be happy to help anyone that go into this porting quest

Some games that i tested :

Final Fantasy V = seems to be in full speed so far , need to test more

Final Fantasy VI or III in US = seems to be in full speed until some heavy effects happen during a battle then it slows down

Zelda A Link To The Past = full speed

Street Fighter 2 Turbo = full speed

i do hope that people take the source and improve upon this emulator one day , it seems to be a very reliable and useful app.

( i should note that none of the games listed here have been fully played to the end with this emulator yet , but the general feeling is , if it boots up and plays fine , its more than likely gonna perform the same to the end )

Breath of Fire = Full speed

Castlevania Dracula X = full speed

Chrono Trigger = seems full speed except the Time warp animation

Final Fantasy IV or II in US = seems to be in full speed too , except when you change the window color you need to reload the zone to fix the glitching text (only once) , there are some other glitches too

Update on Final Fantasy V = still full speed but had some small slow downs when certain music/scene happens , hasn't rendered unplayable yet

Fire Pro Joshi - All Star Dream Slam = Full speed

Kirby Superstar = doesn't boot

Lufia and The Fortress of Doom = full speed , there are some slight sound issues.

Lufia II : Rise of The Sinistrals = full speed

Super Mario RPG = doesn't boot

Super Mario World 2 = doesn't boot

Secret of Mana = has text glitches at the beginning

we probably will need to have some compatibility list made for this eventually.

Hi.
I Tested this Snesticle: fullset of roms zipped into the roms folder, all files into an iso, the iso on USB drive, launched with Openloader 1.

I've got mixed results.

1- Some roms are not highlighted (in white) in the list no matter what you do,that is the case with Donkey Kong 2 unfortunately. Only one version of Donkey Kong 1 is highlighted (and working), a modded one. Donkey Kong 3 seems ok. There is no way to run these « grey » games. approximately 100 roms suffer from this issue.
Some use additional chips like DSP, FX, etc, so you didn't expect these to work…but some don't and should work, like Donkey Kong 1.

2- some games will run in japanese or usa but not in pal/eur. That is the case with Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss or Pop'n Twin bee. In pal you'll get a message telling something like « this pack is not designed for your system » so it seems to be a region-lock related issue. The only Vampire Kiss i've made working in Pal is Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss [f1] if i remember well.

3- some games will only get you into a black screen (Blackthorne, Captain Commando) as far as i tested them.

4- some games will suffer from graphical gliches (as in Final Fight 2, sprites does not align correctly, no problem with Final Fight 3, tho)

The good news, now: When games work, they do work. No slowdowns and above all, musics runs perfectly, wich was the most annoying « snes station » issue. Super Nes sound still is very impressive today.

List of games that i tested and seems to be working perfectly:

Area 88
Castlevania: Dracula X
Super Castlevania IV
Pop'n Twin Bee
Donkey Kong Country 3
Bikers mice from mars
Final Fight 3
Pocky & Rocky

Works really well - far faster / smoother than SNES Station and fullscreen too with US games. I edited the ISO provided using UltraISO Free version (LBA is NOT affected) to add ROMS. To make this work I had to follow the UltraISO saving instructions for Coleco here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/o...ps2-2-0-uniqueusernames-mod.10780/#post-55739 . Set UDF, not Rock Ridge in particular. Loads and plays fine from USB.
I've tested SMB All Stars - obviously! Space Invaders the Original Game and Classic Kong Complete (homebrew). All seem to run well. Praise to everyone involved in this project!

I got the iso, added roms to it - and then I used opl manager to add it to my usb like always, That succeeded and I went to load the iso on my ps2, but it does the opl flashing colors and then stops on white, any ideas what gives? likely something im missing
