SoftDev2 is an MBR program for PS2 fat models equipped with an internal HDD.

When installed,
SoftDev2 boots from your __mbr partition in HDD and will launch OPL (hdd0:__sysconf/softdev2/OPNPS2LD.ELF) by default.

In addition, hot keys were added which will launch corresponding application if key is held during boot:

  • :but cir:: uLaunchELF (hdd0:__sysconf/softdev2/ULE.ELF).
  • :but tri:: OSD ROM browser (rom0:OSDSYS), FreeHDBoot (hdd0:__system/osd/osdmain.elf) or HDD-OSD browser (hdd0:__system/osd/hosdsys.elf or hdd0:__system/osd100/hosdsys.elf) if any installed.
Installation Instructions

Run SoftDev2Installer.elf to install SoftDev MBR program (MBR.XIN) on your HDD. Installer will place copies of OPL and ULE in your HDD. Any previous FreeHDBoot or HDD-OSD installation will remain untouched and usable.

@alexparrado

Salut. Le OPL installé est-il multilingue, possède-t-il le Français ???

Merci par avance pour ta réponse.

In English via G-trad :

Hi. Is the installed OPL multilingual, does it speak French ???

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Algol "le papy"

PS : j'utilise toujours mes diverses PS2 FAT et Slim (SCPH-39004/50004 et 70004).

By the SoftDev2 Installer, OPL is put into "hdd0:/__sysconf/softdev2/OPNPS2LD.ELF" so it is executable alone. However, current beta of OPL, and all official OPL since now when they will be deploy as stable, will use "hdd0:/__common/OPL/conf_hdd.cfg" which is seeking on start and tells OPL where he should look for all resources. v1.0.0 and older seeking resources only in "hdd0:/+OPL/".

So it doesn't really matter from where You launch OPL because it will read resources from elsewhere, instead to $appdir. If You configured OPL, it will be read as is. And if You want update OPL, then just replace this file mentioned above (with exactly this filename of course).

@HWNJ For what reason? It is font which should be smaller, not the icons bigger. ;) If icons be twice larger, then logo will be completely out of place.

He means a 96x96 icon to use in resource page in here in psx-place. Not in installer.
