Hey guys

Can anyone shed some light on this error code?
So far tried updating ps4... Get this code
Reinitilising, same error.
Tried bith versions of the 7.0 update (400mb and the 1gb) - same error...
Tried a different hard drive... Same error.

Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks guys!!

Hello,
i have just signed up to respond to this issue as i struggled with researching for a solution for su-37553-3.

The way i fixed it requires soldering skills and some luck.

I am sorry this will be long, but i hope it helps anyone researching the problem

First i will explain what the problem was for me and how i fixed it:

while updating to 7.0 update on ps4 slim it stopped close to 40% range and it would show su-37553-3 error code and restart, i tried everything a person could without ruling it as a hardware issue, then after a while i gave up and disassembled it, and looked for ic chips that might cause this issue then i found the NOR chip and i suspected that the issue might have came from it.

After some while i bought a hot air station and a usb chip programmer and i began desoldering the NOR chip, and then soldering it to an adapter, and hooking it up to the usb programmer and dumping the contents of the NOR chip and backing it up, i then used BetterWayElectronics NOR validator to see what the issue is and i found some errors that were thankfully fixable as they were not unique to my ps4. After doing all of that i was going to reprogram the NOR chip with the fixed dump, which requires first erasing the whole chip and then programming it, but i had an issue where the NOR chip always gets an error when erasing it, and that turns out for me to be where the whole problem was.

I then ordered a replacement NOR chip from aliexpress which took around two weeks to be delivered here in Saudi Arabia. After that i programmed the new NOR chip which did not have a problem being erased with the fixed dump, then after soldering it back to the ps4 and downloading the latest 1GB update, i turned it on and it thankfully did turn on without issues, then i began initializing it and it completed it smoothly and rebooted and everything is working now alhamdulillah.

Summary:

The Problem:
For me it was unerasable NOR chip, and i suspect it is the same for everyone having this error code.

What you will need:
  • Soldering skills and equipment.
  • USB programmer. I use dreampro3 which can be found in aliexpress.
  • Some sort of WSON8 8*6 to 8-DIP adapter to connect the NOR chip to the programmer, can also be found in aliexpress.
  • A replacement NOR chip, try to order an equivalent to what you have.
The steps to fix it:
  1. Desolder the NOR chip from PS4.
  2. Connect the NOR chip to the usb programmer then read, save and back up it's data.
  3. Using BetterWayElectronics NOR validator check for errors with your dump, and try to fix them if there are any, and if it is possible and this depends on how lucky you are.
  4. Use the fixed NOR dump and program it on the newly bought NOR chip.
  5. Solder the new NOR chip on the PS4.
  6. Reassemble the PS4, turn it on, and initialize it with 1GB update.
  7. Hopefully it will go through with the update and it will be fixed for you same as it did for me.
After writing all of this i see that it is very long and maybe i should have started a new topic for it, what do you think?

Thanks, and sorry if there are any mistakes in my writing because english is not my first language.

So the NOR goes in non-writable mode, there for you get different booting errors when updating. Nice info.
