PS2 Suggestion for OPL: Random Game

Forum Noob
Hi,
Sometimes I want to play a random game of my collection with friends but we can't decide what to play next. I would be happy to have a button for jumping to a random game in the list.

Some other projects like batocera, retro pie have such a random mode and I love it.

I think the implementation wouldn't be hard, but I don't know how many would like to have such a feature.

Maybe something likes this

A: Group 1 - Odd Number
1-9 Games Listed
Group 2
B: Group 2 - Even Number
1-9 Games Listed
etc
Timer double button press milliseconds result Odd/Even number pick game from opposite kind, so a Odd Number millisecond result equals Even & vice-versa, then a check to see if the previous loaded game was from that group if not move on to the next odd or even group.

Why, instead of providing a valid reason, do they respond with satire to a user's sincere request?
The question of why it's not being implemented remains unresolved, making it difficult to follow the central issue.

I just found Berion answer very funny and jumped in the bandwagon. Sorry if you feel offended.

About your FR : i'm not envolved in OPL developement/testing (nor any project at all). I think your PR should be adressed to those envolved into OPL at OPL repo. OPL already has a "Remember last game played" feature, so I think your idea is not absurb at all.

To submit your idea, open an issue at https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/issues

Don't worry, friend, it's not a scolding, and I'm not offended at all. It was just a reasonable question. Please forgive me if it made you uncomfortable. (See the question marks.)

This should have been answered in the first place; it wasn't very difficult. Although, regarding the request, you've got the wrong person. It wasn't directed at me, but at the user Chnorzy, who started this thread. I meant that anyone coming here looking for the same thing would get lost in the topic because there wasn't a clear answer.

I'm not offended as well. I tried to react with humor as well, but still would like that feature if it's easy to implement. Unfortunately I didn't write code for a long time and I couldn't do it myself.

Unfortunately I'm still on noob rank here and can only post in the starting line, hoping that someone move it to the right place, but thanks to mention the github Link. I will try it there later.
I posted here because many don't like suggestions on github and want to keep it for issues to not get too much questoins/requestions there.

Also there are many github projects for OPL which are abandoned and for some people it's hard to find the actual branch still in development and up to date.

Edit: Did a Feature Request (FR) on github

Because slowly but surely I'm getting old and salty. :D

OPL development suffering from lack of hands. And such feature looks for me useful for super small percent of users. So realistically, chance for that are probably very low. Still, that's not something unreasonable or hard to add, just with burden of low priority.

Only one is official. And eventually private Maximus's (Rickgaiser) test ground before merging with main.

My friend Berion, I had no idea about that. I suppose 10 years of dealing with and responding to all sorts of people can be exhausting and tiring, to the point of stress.
I'll try not to ask you any more questions so as not to exhaust you further.:encouragement:

And thank you for finally providing a valid reason for this thread.

Maybe I should start learning C.
Has been 10 years since I last coded in Python and 20 years since C#.
Not mentioning Basic on the C64 as child 30 years ago; JavaScript, PHP, CSS, strange Adobe languages and things I don't even remember what language it was. I was looking for bugs in Web Pages in school and early work.

Getting old as well but I think C would still be handy for many things.

@Chnorzy :

I think just like you, my friend.
Back in 1984, I was using BASIC, but I quickly switched to assembly language, more commonly known as "Assembler," for 65C02 (R6502), 68000, 68030, 8086 processors, etc. My passion was getting my hands dirty. Now that's all in the past; I have a well-deserved retirement. I've never touched C, C++, etc., but I still have books to learn if I ever want to.
