Thank you for your advice. I checked the file properties and it reads as 'PS3UPDAT.PUP' and says it's a PUP file.

I'm inserting the USB drive directly into the PS3 USB slot closest to the blueray drive.

What do you mean by firmware spoofs? Do I need to downgrade my firmware to 4.88 before installing the HFW 4.89 PUP file? i read it should install over 4.89 via safe mode however I cant seem to get that to work, just tring to work out what it might be. I've tried so many USB drives as well so I'm not sure what the issue is :/

.If you launch homebrew (any app?) after HEN is launched from installer, before the download dialog comes up, it will freeze.

.After HEN enables from web (initial install), if you have slow internet and can get into another xmb menu (Network Settings) and push circle to cancel, the ui will not be correct and you get stuck in menu if you try to go back into the same menu again, forcing a reboot to fix. If you go into a different menu, the xmb will still function but the overlay will still be on top.

Thanks for the Hen update ... please help! I get this error message "PS3HEN could not resolve update host" whenever i try to enable hen..

a spoof is when your ps3 tells psn that it is on a higher firmware than it really is on. it is a trick to access psn without updating to latest firmware.

no downgrade needed. (without CFW it is impossible anyway).

it is not a problem. HEN is trying to check for updates...but the server it is looking for is down. there is a new server address and the next version of HEN will use it.

you can turn off auto-updates by creating an empty file named "hen_updater.off" and placing it in the root of the ps3 HDD using FTP or a file manager homebrew. that way the error will not show any more.

Thank you again for your help. It only has 4.89 OFW. I guess my console must be the exception to the rule or something :(

Ok but how i will be able to download the newest version from HEN then? Manually?
 
However there's an annoying bug with ps2 games ported to ps3 pkg package through ps2 classics that's disabling hen each time that i exit from ps2 game, ...i hope will be fixed in the next update.

I don't think you can download the latest version "manually" yet. As for me, I don't have none of them file managers installed so I won't be able to do what @Coro said I should do. I think you should try that method since you already have MM and IrisMan.

Hey Coro, do you know if it's possible to install HFW 4.89.1 via a CD or DVD? Ive tried some USB 4GB FAT (not Fat32) drives as I read sometimes they are needed but I'm still not able to update to HFW 4 89.1 via USB.

I've been wondering if maybe the HFW has been blocked by Playstation somehow?

it is not a bug. when ps2 games are played, the ps3 reboots into a different mode. everything like hen gets wiped from memory at that time. after ps2 is done, the ps3 reboots into normal mode again and wipes the memory once more.

yes! you can put the pup file on a disc with the same file and folder names used on usb. i do not think that thry can block hfw because it looks like official update.

No success unfortunately with a CD with the same folder structure, really wish it would work :( would it be worth trying the non offical 4.89.2 HFW?
 
Hey guys, i wonder if someone is having problems with Artemis and Netcheat with the latest HEN and firmware 4.89. I'm trying to search values in memory but PS3MAPI only returns a bunch of zeroes in every memory addresses. Even dumping full memory with webman mod i got a 256MB binary file filled with zeroes too. I tried to apply cheats with artemis but it just does nothing in-game. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a problem. I installed the HFW4.89 and initialized it, then I went to remote play and it worked, but when I go to install Hen, error 80710A06 comes up. can someone help me?
 
Hi at all guys, i am trying install hen on superslim ofw 4.89, but i have a problem, when i launch broswer and open site exploit http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) or .me i receveid error 80710a06.
Ps3 is updated to ofw 4.89 and after i have install hybrid 4.89.1 in recovery mode and all ok. I have tryed connection wired and cabled too with automatic setting and manual with google dsn, but always have the same problem 80701a06.
I have deleted cookie and cache from ps3 broswer, but don' t work for me. Please help. Thanks
