PS2 Switching from USB to HDD internal: clarifying some doubts

After many years I will switch to playing from a Ps2 Slim via Usb to a Ps2 Fat via HDD. I got myself an official Sony Network Adaptor and a 320 GB Ide Pata HDD. I have always followed you with pleasure even if lately I have seen some confusion and I have gotten lost. Now that I have everything I need to start with an internal HDD, I would like to be able to clarify the doubts I have regarding this system. The questions are as follows, feel free to answer as many as you want:

- I would like to install the games with the classic method using HDL Batch Installer. Alternatively, if I wanted to use the OPL grimdoomer fork, could I encounter compatibility problems? Will I encounter fragmentation by using the HDD in exfat?

- My games collection has some iso modified, such as language patches or removal of useless files. Could I still install them via HDLBI or do I have to rip again every single game and install them virgin without the possibility of "touching" them?

- For USB I have been using OPL 1.2 beta 2014 for months, and everything goes smoothly without any type of problem. With internal HDD could I encounter problems with the 1.2 beta versions? Which version of OPL is recommended for internal HDD?

- Can I connect my USB drive with everything I need for Popstarter and start my VCDs from Usb in the Apps section of OPL as I always have done? Will OPL be able to coexist with the internal HDD and display PS2 games inside it, and at the same time display PS1 games in the Apps section from the connected USB drive at the same time? Alternatively, could I use Popstarter via the internal HDD without problems?

Thanks for your attention, I hope to clarify my doubts once and for all.

Grimdoomer OPL introduces fragmentation issue yes, but newer OPL versions support up to 64 frags, so it SHOULD be ok

HDLBinst should accept them as long as these moddifications didnt break somethin on the ISO filesystem

1.0.0 as your "stable" build and some 1.2.0 recent beta for some testing

Thank you and I take this opportunity to thank you for the enormous contribution you are making to the scene. Based on these answers I would like to ask some questions to the community for anyone who wants to give me advice. In the end I opted for a 500 GB Hitachi IDE HDD, I hope there are no problems regarding the size as it is a Pata. I would like to know what is the best way to create the Opl partition on the HDD to insert the various configurations and Art of the games. Can it be enough to start Opl 1.0.0 from USB and let the program automatically create the +OPL partition? Furthermore, if I wanted to use the new 1.2 Beta versions sometime, would I have problems reading that partition created by Opl 1.0.0? The other question concerns installing DVD9 and large games with HDL Batch Installer, will I have problems launching them with Opl 1.0.0 or is this obsolete information?
