PS3 Sync trophies with PSN

Hey, i'm with ferrox cobra 4.82 and want to sync trophies and have couple of questions:
1. How can I sync trophies when my FW version is less than the latest OFW?
2. If I need to upgrade the CFW, how can I do it?
3. I want to sync a small number of trophies in 2-3 games that I played on March-October 2018. I synced in the past after I jailbroke the console, and I think it was with PSNPatch but can't be sure. Will it risk my PSN account to sync now trophies from 2018 after all this time?

Hi omriten, and welcome to the forums!. I'll try to answer your questions.

1. How can I sync trophies when my FW version is less than the latest OFW?

The only way to go online without being in the latest OFW is via proxy. You have to set it up in Network settings, and then open one of these tools: PS3 Proxy or PS3 Proxy Server for Android or PS3 Proxy Server Tool.

2. If I need to upgrade the CFW, how can I do it?

Before anything, you need to check if your PS3 is CFW compatible. BE VERY CAREFUL, IF YOUR PS3 IS NOT CFW COMPATIBLE YOU WILL BRICK IT. Here is a video tutorial from MrMario which guides you through the entire process thoroughly:

If you are on OFW with a clean console, then there is nothing to worry about regardless of the OFW version (which can be bypassed using the proxy). Go and get your trophies, and sync them as usual. The only issue with PSN comes with using it on CFW.

FW mode: Cobra 8.20 comatible
2. if I'm on this version, what should I do? upgrade to newer version? if so, how can I do that?
3. once I'm on the latest version possible, what should I do? how risky is that? trophies 3 years old, some of them were popped from hacked game (RDR1, GOW Ascention, GTA SA) and some were popped from disc gta (GTA IV). what should I do?

A word of warning..

Unless you are looking to get banned, you should not use any workaround to connect to PSN with an older CFW.
Workarounds like using a proxy or spoofing the system software version used to be safe-ish but they are no longer since s#ny pushed a PSN login update with 4.88 to fix a vulnerability.
On older CFW, the system will be using the old PSN login transaction which is a dead give away that the system is running on CFW.
From there, it is all up to you..

Devs will eventually be looking into this problem & provide new ways to connect to PSN safely using older CFWs but for the moment there is no proven safe way to go about it.

Trophies are trophies, unless modified, there is nothing about them that could be used to trace hacked games or systems.
They can safely be synced from OFW 4.88 or CFW 4.88 with disabled syscalls & clean history.

As bguerville clearly said, it's very dangerous to get in PSN while on CFW. So don't do it.

Regarding point #2, you should update to Evilnat's CFW 4.88.2. It's pretty stable and has a lot of built in features. Also, be sure to set the QA Token and Flag in your PS3 if you still haven't in order to be able to downgrade your PS3's FW.
