PS3 SYSCON Tutorial (Windows)

Up to you. I've used MX4 with long lasting results. just don't use thermal grizzly kryonaught, it's not meant for hight temp use. It's designed for freezing temps, hence the name.
Even after replacing the paste it hasn't brought me anywhere, also aren't you supposed to use thermal epoxy on the memory chips?

Hi! I need a little help with my PS3 Slim 2100. I got it for cheap, jailbroke it and I saw that temperatures were a little bit high on a cpu(77C). I decided to delid it. I've done that, replaced the termal paste, reassambled the console and turn it on. it started up, and it requested for the time to be set. When I tried, I noticed that it froze. I turned it off, and now when I turn it on, it stays with a green light for 2-3 minutes and then pulsing red light. I attached the syscon error log. It's my nor corrupted?

Maybe you cracked the balls when you tried to delid it. Try to make more pressure under the cpu and see if it can boot.

Where did you find that?

I am trying to understand how to determine which SYSCON versions have which command to enable SB UART. I thought it was a mullion vs sherwood thing. But apparently some require changes to address 1200? Is that a thing based on specific SYSCON revision or what? I should add it to the Tutorial, but need to know how to know what consoles will need it.
Sorry for late reply. We know SW models start from ver001 motherboard. I did not know many things about Renesas. I tested many times only area 0x0 to 0x13ff. As many here I just read and test.
M4j0r is doctor of this programming side.

Closely inspect the SMDs around the CPU area for damage. If you knocked one it could have caused that. the stress of the delid (depending on how it was done) could have caused a BGA defect. The errors are consistant with that guess.

Yes, IMO it is important to reattach the IHS with appropriate adhesive. Stars 922 heatsink plaster works well for the RSX. And Permatex Ultra Rigid RTV Silicone works for CELL IHS.

One catch. While they cure, the IHS need to be flat against the die. If you install in the console, it can get tilted and not make flat contact with the die. So it's best to all them to cure before installing. With some kind of force that keeps the IHS flat over the die.

Okay, need to purchase the adhesive. is this it? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/374828304656

You could probe the TC external diode resistor pair
Could you please go into more depth on these instructions? is it here on the board near the RSX?

That cap I'm pointing to must not be short. And the 2 resistors that are circled must have the same resistance. All the soldering joints need to be good and OFC the monitor itself has to be good.

Caps and resistors are A okay, Only thing left on the current debug list is to replace the chip entirely. What would be a good supplier to get the TMP411B from?

Well that's a problem, so you can't get them anywhere else? That's
disappointing.
I suppose that's a bit of a question mark. "I have heard" that they are programmed for each chip they monitor. So you can't take one from the CPU and put it on the GPU for example. If that's the case (IDK, haven't tried it personally) then even if you get NOS you'd have to program them before they could be used. @sandungas do you know?

I've found a similar thermal ic from Ti on digikey, it is pretty much identical to the specifications of the one on the board, but it has a different model number. Different programming?

Before swapping more parts can you please provide measure resistance of rsx vddc line. I'm suspecting something else. If it's high then 5 ohms or near will give thermal error. After that there is a trick to start unit but cant say how long will last. Or even if you get images.
Those rsx with near 5 ohms on vddc are not fixable even if I swap vrams on them.

Okay, what points should I probe for that?

I've gotten a measurement. It's at 3.6 Ohm.

Just rsx swap. I'm sorry but it's nothing else to do.
On that condition not even rsx vrams delid /swap won't fix it. It's fried internal. Think I've tested so far around 3 and after vrams they go in special glod so pointless.

My syscon wont log new errors. Here is a backstory. I followed the guide, and managed to get some error codes out. But the last error code was 2019, whenever I booted up the console and got YLOD, there wasn't any new log. So I fond someone saying u might need to clear the list, so I did that. And after that nothing, the list stays empty and wont log anything on it. Btw the ps3 is a fat model CECHK04
